Enough (2/10)

"My worst film of the year so far"

I just saw this piece of shite for the first time and all I can say is WTF? How this flick wound up with relatively "good" reviews is beyond me. This blandly directed, manipulative and not so subtle piece of "feminism wannabee" propoganda had me vomiting my Chips and Dip all over myself. I knew I was in trouble the moment the oh so "insightful" Title Cards popped up early on. Fuck me man!

The film's worst sin of all though is that it tackles such a potent and dead serious subject matter with the maturity of a "Power Rangers" episode. I find it appaling that a tale that deals with wife beating would keep its two feet firmly planted into such a fantasy world where all of the men are "super-duper-evil" cartoon characters, where all of the plot turns are idiotic to the point of self mutilation and where the dialogue is well; freaking atrocious ("Cake-Pie" BARFFFFFFFFF). I think there should be a law established where motion pictures are NOT allowed to adress hefty issues in such an incredibly childish way. But that's just me.

The only good thing here was that I was buying JLO's character's progression to a certain extent throughout. Also the fact that she's called Slim and as an ass the size of a Mack Truck put a smile on my face. But the film eventually shat all over that and the kitchen sink when her character arc eventually kicked in for the last block. Did you know that a 4 week kickboxing training session and Linda Hamilton's left over wardrobe from T2 can turn you her into a tough jiving, so serious its hilarious badass in the blink of an eye? Now you do. And you want me to swallow this diahera? COME ON!

When the ridiculous finale FINALLY kicked in; that was it for me. I had tuned out and lost the slight investement I had put into the movie. Man this gal was so prepared that it was ludicrous and when her trainer's voice echoed in her head like Obi Wan at the last moment, I actually threw a Chocolate Pouding at my TV set while these ugly thoughts ran through my head: Fuck you for expecting me to buy all of this drivel and treating me like a complete moron. Fuck you for demanding me to "cheer" for this BULLSHIT story and characters! Fuck you for wasting my precious time and fuck you for having me get up to get another Chocolate Pouding.

I'll stick with Sleeping with the Enemy; it deals with a similar subject matter, it doesn't preach, is well directed, manages to entertain, has a more credible male psycho and even when pushing the enveloppe of logic winds up up being way more grounded than this highly improbable, genuine piece of garbage. ENOUGH is an infantile, clumsy and dumber than dumb piece of "girl power" marmelade posing as a movie. First we got the inane "Double Jeopardy" and now this, I can firmly say I've had ENOUGH. Where's "The Stepfather" when you need him? "We need order around here!"

Lopez continues her long line of ever-shitty movies, except for The Cell. Can't she make ANYTHING decent enough ?

Enough

Enough - 1/10
a Columbia Pictures release

Enough as to be one of the worst films that I have seen all year. It is a total Sleeping with the enemy knock - off. It stars pop - diva Jennifer Lopez as Slim a hardworking waitress. Who falls head over heels for Mitch. But after a couple years and a baby girl Mitch is not the guy Slim thought he was. So he beats her up, she runs away and changes her look. And it is a cat and mouse game of who finds who first. And then the big ending that is so overdone and so boring that you know that she is going to kick his booty.Big deal we have seen it all before and in the end enough fails at being good.

ENOUGH (2002)

I'm not a big fan of Jennifer Lopez "the person" but I'll admit to enjoying Jennifer Lopez "the actress." She's really impressed me in her roles, especially since I usually end up liking her characters yet I think she would be a self-absorbed bitch. "Enough" hasn't changed the trend of me liking her characters and the movie really surprised me, it was much better than I was expecting. It's not very original and it was pretty predictable yet it still managed to put me on the edge of my seat and I never thought it would do that. It has some real tense "yell at the screen" moments where you think you know what will happen but you can't help but be nervous anyway. I'd be lying if I didn't say I had a great time watching this movie.

A lot of people don't like it when singers act or actors sing but I must admit I'm a much bigger fan of Jennifer Lopez "the actress" than Jennifer Lopez "the singer." She really managed to deliver here and doesn't disappoint. Billy Campbell was a surprisingly effective villain and really delivered in the creep department, even I was scared of him. Tessa Allen was also very good as their daughter Grace, what a cutie.

"Enough" makes up for the predictable plot by delivering in the suspense department. I found it to be a very enjoyable thriller and if you like movies like Double Jeopardy then you are sure to enjoy it. I highly recommend it.

Grade: 7/10 or B or ***1/2 of *****

Boy, was this movie terrible! probably the second worst jennifer lopez movie-underneath "the wedding planner"....but anyway. the only sympathy i had towards this movie was the little girl....especially when she cried. but anyway....enough of that....i fell asleep during this movie and i never fall asleep....SPOILERS the whole...i'm getting revenge on my cheating, abusive husband.....good grief.....not that i'm condoning abusive and adultry but....come on...it doesn't make much sense to me...how this guy could be so perfect and then one day she finds out there is another woman..and bam...he goes ballistic...doesn't make much sense.....there should have been a bigger build-up....what a terrible movie.....b/w this and jason X i don't know which is worse.....god.....what a weekend.....needless to say, by the end of this movie i had had enough......oh lets not forget the little white words over the black background....how.......innovative.....spish....." how they met" ..."get out"....lets just....lead everyone through this sleeper by the hand....ah...it had it's ups here and there but was highly predictable....but hey, it was better than crossroads

5/10 (and i'm being nice at that)

I did rent it a while ago, but I didn't have time to watch it. My sister watched it (she'd been wanting to see it for a while) and told me how stupid it was... I just took her word on it... Plus, I don't wanna waste anymore money on a possible bomb.

It wasn't that good.

I give it a 5/10 at best. It's got some VERY laughable acting from Jennifer Lopez and Billy Campbell and such a cliched plot and I dunno how to explain it but it's just not that good! lol

It WAS THAT BAD!!!!

As much as I appreciated your point on THE GOOD GIRL, there's just no excuse for this pile of repugnant trash, Mike!!!!

I hated everything about this flick, which wouldn't even have enough choice moments for a TV movie. The acting was awful and pretentious, the direction sickly slick and uninterested in the predictable and frankly stupid story and the dialogue was cringeworthy. The worst scene has to be the opening with Josh Charles appearing as a doublecrossing diner guest and his way too predictable relation to a main character of the story after which I forwarded the movie to its simply awful ending.

I just wished I had stopped watching J.Lo movies after the dreadful WEDDING PLANNER. And there's no way I'm gonna watch THIS again...

Then why didnt you just say it!!! (just kidding )

Thank you Arrow for not making fun of the people who liked this film, and merely stating that you disagree. Many people get "edgy" when someone says something that disagrees with them. BTW, I am still convinced that The Arrow, JoBlo, and The Shooting Surgeon are the same people!!!!! :O

I Liked it alot. It had lots of action and suspense. I know why people hated it but I can see why people would like it. Jennifer Lopez wasn't right for the role she played but she was alright. 7/10

There was hardly any action, a couple of thrills and the acting was passable. The movie was decent, about a 6 or a 7.
