All I hope is that Eternal Sunshine( specifically Carrey) KB vOL. 2 and Garden State get nominated. They are in my top five of the year. I swear to God if Carradine or Thurman dont get nominated Ill scream.

"Big Fish" was last year, nominated for Best Original Score.

This year's nominations will all but exclude "Garden State" and "Eternal Sunshine," except the distant possibility of Best Original Screenplay for Charlie Kaufman. Look for "Garden State" to win Best First Film at the Independent Spirit awards, but I'd be completely shocked to see it take a little gold man.

As for this year's Best Picture, I really have no idea just yet, but I'm willing to bet Scorsese gets a sympathy Oscar, regardless of "The Aviator's" quality. I'm sure "Alexander" and "Farenheit 9/11" will make appearances in the Best Picture category, and I wouldn't doubt a Director nomination for Quentin Tarantino, but it's too soon to tell. The good movies haven't come out yet.

Kill Bill Vol. 2 nominated? Ha! That's a laugh. I do hope that David Carradine get's nominated for supporting actor though.
Eternal Sunshine better get some nominations as well. The Aviator & Alexander will surely get some notice. Fahrenheit 9/11 may get some notice as well. But it's not as likely as The Aviator and Alexander.

Not that it's incredibly likely, but I'd like to see Uma Thurman get nominated.

For me the year looks like, so far:

Best Picture: Collateral
Best Director: Michel Gondry, Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind
Best Actor: Tom Cruise, Collateral
Best Actress: Kate Winslet, Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind
Best Supporting Actor: Steve Carrell, Anchorman
Best Supporting Actress: Dakota Fanning, Man on Fire

Fanning was the best thing about Man on Fire

Ive only really liked 4 or five (ESOTM, Kill Bill, Anchorman, Collateral and to a lesser extent, the Candidate) out of the 15 Ive seen for the year.

No offense intended, but there's not a chance in hell that the movie'll get nominated.

I doubt any movie that has been released already, will get nods, let alone win. The Asscademy proves every year, that just about EVERY major player in the awards gets released between Oct and Dec.

As for Passion... I don't really think it'll win. It might get nominated, but it won't win. It's too "controversial"... and in my opinion, sucked ass... but then again, a movie doens't have to be good, to win, it just has to make a ton of money (see Lord of the Rings).

The Academy doesn't take chances, and there are rarely EVER any surprises, and this year won't be an exception.

Jamie Fox will probably get nominated for Ray, but won't win, cause Denzel already took the token award... which he didn't deserve... for Training Day.

The Razzies will be a great show this year tho. Can anyone else see Catwoman taking it all?

Actually, I feel that sometimes the Razzies are just as "panderous" (shut up, it's a word!) as the folks at the academies. I mean for god sake's, Michael Bay is slowly solifying his place is cinematic history as the worst directors since Ed Wood yet he's never once won worst director. It's also predictable that Gigli, a film that's being reconised as merely decent to kinda bad in films buff circles had a total sweep last year? there's also the fact that Stanley Kubrick is close to having as many nominations as Bay.

I know that most of what I'm going to nominate doesn't have a chance in hell of actually getting nominated, but fuck it...

Best Picture:
The Dreamers
Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind
Kill Bill Vol. II
The Motorcycle Diaries
The Passion of the Christ*

Best Director:
Bernardo Bertolucci, The Dreamers
Jonathan Demme, The Manchurian Candidate
Mel Gibson, The Passion of the Christ*
Michel Gondry, Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind
Quentin Tarantino, Kill Bill Vol. II

Best Actor:
David Carradine, Kill Bill Vol. II
Jim Carrey, Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind*
Tom Cruise, Collateral
Tom Hanks, The Terminal
Mark Ruffalo, We Don't Live Here Anymore

Best Actress:
Eva Green, The Dreamers
Bryce Dallas Howard, The Village
Meryl Streep, The Manchurian Candidate
Uma Thurman, Kill Bill Vol. II*
Kate Winslet, Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind

Most of the real Oscar bait hasn't been released yet (Closer, Kinsey, The Life Aquatic, Finding Neverland) and I'm pretty damn confident that this list will be dramatically different by the year's end...

sorry to barge in and ruin your parade, but Garden state won't win a single award.

I loved the movie, but it's just the type of movie that i good, but not great, and not a "winner."

Same goes for Kill bill v1, or v2. Good movie, not the type of winning movie.

I've rumors of consideration for supporting role in Collateral. But Ray, if he's any good, there will be some consideration there.

Read the top line on the first post. It said who would YOU nominate. Not who you think would be nominated.
