Tim Allen gets Hollywood Walk of Fame star

Associated Press

LOS ANGELES - Tim Allen said the Hollywood Walk of Fame star he got Friday was just the beginning of major neighborhood improvement.

"Stop traffic! All these buildings will be named after me!" the former "Home Improvement" star joked during a ceremony marking the honor.

Allen went on to call the star "such a validation. It means so much to me and from the bottom of my heart I thank my friends and family and all the fans for being here today."

Hundreds of people gathered to see the unveiling of Allen's star, the 2,270th on the Walk of Fame and next to the El Capitan Theatre at the corner of Hollywood and Highland.

Patricia Richardson, who played Allen's wife in the ABC comedy "Home Improvement," and Jamie Lee Curtis, Allen's spouse in the new movie "Christmas with the Kranks," were on hand.

Allen will always "be a huge part of my life," Richardson said, promising to "do a little dance on his star each time I walk by."

Curtis praised her co-star's acting talent and then teased him over the camera his mother used to record the event.

"By the way, Tim, why don't you get your mom a real camera rather than a disposable one," Curtis said.

This guy is a dumb ass. They should have given a star to count chocula instead.

Tim Allen is a damn cool dude. And since they seem to have really lowered the standards for getting a star, I suppose he meets those lowered standards quite well. What happened to days when a walk of fame star meant something?

Congratulations Tim... I always enjoy the occasional episode of Home Improvement.

Anyways, I just found out the other day that Julia Roberts doesn't even have a star on the walk of fame! I'm not a huge fan of hers but I was shocked to hear that considering how much Hollywood seems to love her.

The standards have always been low. You apply for it yourself, or somebody does on your behalf. Then either funds are raised, or you pay for the star yourself.

It's nothing special.

Really. I always though there was some kind of commity that elects people for these things, you know, like the oscar voters. But, hey, Tim Allen is a cool duder and I used to worship home improvement in my youngers years, so rock \m/

Thanks to Ajax and kungfuchris for the bellylaughs and to my friend Greb for beating me to the punch with the knowledge about the process.

Still surprised Julia hasn't gotten one, just out of her sheer vanity.

Zeta-Jones would have one except that she won't spend the $500.

I enjoy Home Improvement and have always kinda liked Tim Allen, but my opinion of him changed somewhat when I read a quote from Billy Corgan stating that Tim Allen once hit him up for some coke and then called him an asshole and made fun of him for being a Buddhist.

That was in response to a question asking who the meanest celebrity is that Corgan has met. Corgan also replied "He is probably the most jerky guy I met ".

I don't know how legit that is, and I don't recall where I initially read it, but if true then Tim Allen seems sorta douche bag-esque. But who knows what the fuck you can believe. I still dig Home Improvement and Galaxy Quest.

Every word, deed and vibe from this man simply oozes the word "prick".

Useless, untalented scum.

Nope. It's 100% an exercise in vanity.

So famous people just buy the stars themselves? How come the Olsens were only allowed to have one star then?

There is limited space. And there is a committee that determines whether or not the person is deserving, but only after the person, or the person's people, has submitted an application.

And my guess on the Olsen's is that they played one character, not two.
