'Harold & Kumar' Crave to Go to Amsterdam
http://www.zap2it.com/movies/news/st...-24186,00.html
'Harold & Kumar' Crave to Go to Amsterdam By Hanh Nguyen January 4, 2005 LOS ANGELES (Zap2it.com) - Fueled by White Castle burgers, Harold and Kumar are ready for their next adventure. Actors John Cho and Kal Penn confirm that they've signed on for two sequels to 2004's comedy "Harold & Kumar Go to White Castle" in which they play the titular stoner buddies on a mission to soothe their pot-induced cravings with the fast food chain's signature sliders. "'Harold and Kumar Go to Amsterdam' is being written as we speak," Penn, 27, tells Zap2it.com, referring to the ending of "White Castle," in which the uptight Harold discovers his crush is traveling to the land of legalized marijuana. "Whether or not it's going to be made depends on the financial receipts from DVD sales and rentals," he adds. "There will be a very direct correlation -- so please don't download our film off the Internet. If you liked the movie, please rent or buy it -- it'll assure that we'll bring you another one next year." Cho, 32, is also jonseing for another go at the buddy comedy. "I would love an opportunity to do it: I like the character of Harold, I like the guys involved in making the movie, and although I haven't been, I am very confident that I would like Amsterdam." The "Extreme Unrated" DVD of the film goes on sale on Tuesday, Jan. 4. Penn's film credits include "Van Wilder," "Malibu's Most Wanted" and "Love Don't Cost a Thing." He will also appear in the upcoming "Son of the Mask," the Ben Affleck comedy "Man About Town" and Mira Nair's adaptation of Jhumpa Lahiri's novel "The Namesake." Cho's previous films include the "American Pie" trilogy, "Wag the Dog," "Down to Earth" and "Better Luck Tomorrow." He next appears in the comedy "Bickford Shmeckler's Cool Ideas," which will be released later this year. |

Ok, it was a pretty funny movie, but HOW much did it make again?
Did it even reach 10 million? Must have been cheap to make. ![]() |

Yeah, the first movie did not do well at the box office (made only about $15 million), but it did reach it's budget ($9 million), and New Line KNOWS that this will make a killing on DVD. All three of the movies will eventually turn in a very healthy profit.

Well, the movie couldn't have costed much, and pretty much any DVD can sell a gagillion copies, I'd say this is pretty much gonna happin. I mean, if Resident Evil, a vastly more expensive movie, can barely break even and get a sequel, then anything can, and probably will.

Here's hoping they won't pull a EUROTRIP and actually film the movie in Amsterdam instead of somewhere in eastern Europe.

'Harold and Kumar Go To White Castle' was the best movie of 2004 in my opinion. It had it all: weed, laughs, and tits. I will be camping outside the movie theater like the Star Wars geeks will be for Episode 3 if this gets made.

dayum, Harold and Kumar Go To Amsterdam has to be made!!
i just got back from vacation there a week ago, and it is a marijuana lovers heaven very easily accessible and perfectly legal in certain spaces. one thing they have to put within this film from my own first hand experience of Amsterdam, is they must either 1.) rent/buy a bike - and or 2.) come close to being run over by a bike, i would laugh at this very much personally......your probably thinking wth right now so i'l explain. Amsterdam is very very flat, in fact there are no hills at all! so everyone rides round on a bike....great in theory and somewhat in practice just not too great. As everyone is riding a bike they dont entirely follow the same rules as cars, eg sticking to the road and most prominently, you can't hear a bike coming.........so if you are a bit drunk/stoned you innocently forget to look around completely while crossing the road and so find yourself at the mercy of these pedal pushers. Feel it could be a good scene to include and what prove the researchers into this film have actually..........done some research. |

I guess, I'm one of the few that thought the first one sucked ass. Hopefully, they tone down all the gay humor in this one and let the people that do the cameos actually be funny and not include Eddie Kaye Thomas.
