Review:

Wow! I saw this one last night and really really enjoyed it!

Like others have said, just the premise of this movie is mega mega mega creepy all on its own. So the movie started off on my good side right from the get go even before Id seen the movie, the only thing that was left to see was if theyd done a good movie with this interesting premise.

I think they suceeded. Theres some really creepy moments on this one! When the ghosts contact that fat guy! And when you get a first glimpse of them! Spooky shit! I love ghosts movies that are done well and this was one of them. When the ghosts would appear on screen, the whole fucking theater reacted! It was great! I believe everyone was psyched as hell. Obviously the theme of the movie alone gets people spooked even before they walk into the theater.

Keaton was great in it, It was great to see him back into acting. All the scenes that had him dealing with the loss of his loved ones were well achieved, the portrayed real emotion. Not to mention the first time he hears his wifes voice over the speaker, that was a really great moment.

My only problem was that they should have explained just a bit better what the villains purpose was...I mean its not really clear why they killed...its all really left to your imagination. Im guessing that the filmakers want you to speculate and decide for yourself what their motivations were. But it is very clear that they are evil, they just dont explain why.

Also even though the film had some really suspensful and scary moments I felt they could have turned up the intensity level just a tinsy winsy bit more towards the end....you know how a film of this sort kind of like starts to build up its suspense like a crescendo...little by little more and more suspense. Well I expected the intensity to be raised just a bit more. As it is, it reaches very intense moments...but you kind of get the feeling like you wanted them to go a bit further.

Aside from that they movie succeded in what it was trying to do wich was creep you the hell out! Theres a lot of suspense in this one, its been a long time since Ive seen a suspense movie in wich they actually get me to care whats going on. Every second of those last 20 minutes I was in the edge of my seat! I was with Keaton walking down those dark spooky corridors looking for What? What? What is it!? I got really worked up in the suspensful moments...and that had not happened in a long time.

So, all in all Id say this was a very enjoyable film. It was suspensful, well acted and scary. Wich means I had a lot of fun being scared, so take that for what its worth. And hey, to all those schmoes who love a good ghost flick....this ones it! Go check it out! Its one of the good ones!

Rating: 4 out of 5
