5 films total, 3 first time viewings, rewatches not eligible for awards

Between catching the flu for two weeks, being incredibly busy with work, having a lack of cash flow and loaning my television/dvd-player out to my father, this has been the worst month in terms of amount of movies watched in almost two years.

Here's hoping I'll have more luck in April. Ranked from best to worst, and yeah, technically I already saw RETURN OF THE KING but since I hadn't seen the added footage, I'm counting it as a first time viewing.

THE LORD OF THE RINGS: THE RETURN OF THE KING SPECIAL EXTENDED EDITION 10/10

THE FUGITIVE (1993) 9/10 (rewatch)

THE RING (2002) 6/10 (rewatch)
THE LAST SHOT 6/10

THE RING TWO 4/10

Best Director: Peter Jackson - ROTK EE
Best Adapted Screenplay: ROTK EE
Biggest Disappointment: THE RING TWO
Person/Character I Never Want to Meet: The Mouth of Sauron (Bruce Spence) - ROTK EE
Best Line: “I'm not your fucking mommy!" - THE RING TWO
Movie I Finally Got to Friggin’ See: ROTK EE
Coolest Title: THE LAST SHOT

A new scale just for fun (and just for this, probably)

01. The Shop On Main Street (1965) - A+
02. In the Mood for Love (2001) - A
03. Orphee (1949) - A
04. Ninotchka (1939) - A-
05. Night Court (1932) - A-
06. Stage Beauty (2004) - B+
07. The Motorcycle Diaries (2004) - B+
08. Uzak (2004) - B+
09. Jules Et Jim (1962) - B
10. The Prizefighter and the Lady (1933) - B
11. I Heart Huckabees (2004) - B
12. Drôle de drame (1937) - B
13. Guilty Hands (1931) - B-
14. Finding Neverland (2004) - B-
15. Camille (1936) - B-
16. Hero (2003) - B-
17. Coal Miner’s Daughter (1980) - B-
18. Arrowsmith (1931) - C+
19. Love Affair (1939) - C+
20. Constantine (2005) - C
21. Lady for a Day (1933) - C
22. Tonight or Never (1931) - C-
23. The Ring Two (2005) - C-
24. A Woman Without Love (1952) - C-
25. Robots (2005) - D+
26. The Emperor Jones (1933) - D

BEST DIRECTOR: Jan Kadar & Elmar Klos - The Shop on Main Street (1965)

BIGGEST SURPRISE: Night Court (1932)
BIGGEST DISAPPOINTMENT: The Ring Two (2005) - maybe…
MOSTED FUCKED UP MOVIE: I Heart Huckabees (2004) - from this list anyway…

I’m Pretty Damn Sure No One Else Has Seen This”: I’ve never seen anyone talk about… Night Court, Drôle de drame, Guilty Hands, Arrowsmith (but this was nominated for several Oscars back in 31, so probably shouldn‘t include it), Tonight or Never, A Woman Without Love, and The Emperor Jones.

BEST SCENE: I have three (in no order):

---The last 15 minutes of The Shop on Main Street - devastating!

---Count Leon d'Algout tries to make Ninotchka laugh in the restaurant - funny!

---Any of the slow-motion scenes set to “Yumeji's Theme” in In the Mood For Love - gorgeous!

Funny, you should ask.

A cameo, literally, she can't be on screen for more than 2 minutes.

Thanks, then off goes Arrowsmith from my "to see" list.

I see you watched "Prizefighter and the Lady" too, that's a really nice one - the very first of Myrna's "perfect wife" roles.

Yeah, I liked it. On a 5-scale, it'd be a 4/5. I think the title, like a lot of classic hollywood films, is pretty cheesy. Like, for another example, 1932s Smilin' Through is a pretty cheesy title for a really good film that's more serious than the title would suggest.

TCM had a W.S. Van Dyke birthday tribute marathon one day in March and I caught three of his films from the early 30s - Prizefighter and the Lady, Night Court and Guilty Hands. All were at least good. I thought Night Court was great. Definitely pushing the envelope, so-to-speak, for a pre-code film.

Ok, now you've made me jealous.

I actually think "Smilin Through" is a pretty cool title, and I really want to see that movie, but I want even more to see the 1941 musical version with Jeanette MacDonald (can't find either ).

How do you guys WATCH SO MANY MOVIES? I am a college student, so I would figure I would have time to watch movies more than most adults on these board. And when I was in high school I didn't watch this much either. Don't get me wrong, I'm not knocking it, but how do you find the time?
