ET has confirmed that Oscar®-winning actress RENÉE ZELLWEGER and country star KENNY CHESNEY have tied the knot! The surprising couple were married on Monday on the beautiful island of St. John in the U.S. Virgin Islands, where the singer has a home. In a short, 15-minute ceremony performed by a female preacher in front of a small group of family and friends, the bride wore CAROLINA HERRERA, one of her favorite designers, while the groom was reportedly barefoot. Both laughed and cried during the ceremony.

The happy couple met at the Concert of Hope tsunami relief effort on January 15 and maintained a quiet friendship that quickly blossomed. The marriage is a first for both stars, although the 37-year-old Kenny reportedly broke off an engagement to another woman in 1999, three weeks before the wedding. Prior to marrying Kenny, Renée dated WHITE STRIPES singer JACK WHITE and her 'Me, Myself & Irene' co-star JIM CARREY. A spokesperson for Renée had no comment about the proceedings.


Out of all the celebrity marriages, I'd never expect these two to hook up!

Something I thought was interesting, on CNN Headline News, it was reported a few years ago that Kenny Chesney was quoted at saying that Zellwegger was his favvourite actress. And this was even before they were dating.

Must be nice.

There had been rumors for the longest time that Chesney was gay. I'm not saying this marriage was some kind of PR stunt but I find it unusual they got married after meeting in January (I know, celebs have been married after being together for shorter periods of time). They've also said that they met a tsunami fundraiser. Considering how inbred the worlds of movies and music are, there were NO previous times when they possible met?

Now for the topic on hand... The length of time that they hooked up to when they finally went down the aisle and said their I DO's is indeed questionable. I guess they wanted to get it over with than do the boyfriend/girlfreind thing first for a year or two.

I saw some pics today of the wedding, and thought she looked dreadfull. I know she has lost a dramatic amount of weight (again), but she just looked like she had made no effort for the day. Nice white dress, but no hairdo or make-up. There was a pic of her walking along the beach with Kenny and she looked so scrawny and akward. I don't know how to get the pics from the newspapers online, so sorry, gonna have to learn.

Anyways I don't know the guy, but I hope he feeds her up a bit.

I thought she looked glowing actually...more radiant than she has done in months, despite the lack of slap and scraped back hair. It all looked a bit 'slapdash' and I felt gooey inside just looking at their loved-up little faces.

I wish them the best.

Agreed about her needing a hearty meal though.

Yup. He should -- for her own good.

But this is funny. The groom is a country star, brawny, rumoured by some to be gay. The bride is a used-to-be-sexy anorexic butterface. They meet and, in under a few months, marry. At the ceremony, a quickie 15-minute ceremony I might add, the groom shows up barefoot, and the bride shows up without hairdo or make-up.

I never thought I'd say this, but I think Renee Zellwegger just went and had a white trash wedding.

(I kid, I kid. Luck to both of 'em. And Kenny -- feed her, for the Love of God, feed her! And find a way to get her face to stop looking like she's taking the hardest crap in her life all the time -- cheeks contracted, eyes almost closed, mouth tight, red and shiny everywhere...)

Granted Rene hasn't been looking too great as of late, but I suspect that misfortune will be the result of the dominant DNA from Chesney's side.
