TV Guide Announces Sexiest Men
http://www.wlns.com/Global/story.asp?S=3421427
TV Guide Announces Sexiest Men Jun 2, 2005, 8:04 AM In its June 5 issue, TV Guide magazine celebrates the sexiest men on TV with 6 collectible covers and exclusive interviews with their female co-stars who talk about what makes them so appealing. Each cover features a different male star from some of the hottest shows on television. Making up the 6 covers are: -- Josh Holloway (Lost) -- Hugh Laurie (House) -- James Denton (Desperate Housewives) -- Patrick Dempsey (Grey's Anatomy) -- Tom Westman (Survivor) -- Gary Dourdan (CSI) Rounding out the list inside the magazine are Julian McMahon (Nip/Tuck), Goran Visnjic (ER), Josh Duhamel (Las Vegas), Enrique Murciano (Without a Trace) and Chad Michael Murray (One Tree Hill). Sure they all have 6-pack abs, great hair and chiseled jaws, but as TV Guide learns in candid interviews with each of the men's female co-stars, sexy amounts to a lot more than meets the eye. "The sexiest thing about Jamie is his approachability," says Denton's Housewife girlfriend, Teri Hatcher. "He's kind of a cowboy. You know, salt of the earth, manly man, but his real sex appeal comes from an inner place. He puts no effort into it; he's just sort of is, and that's much sexier than working at it." She adds that playing a plumber on Desperate Housewives doesn't hurt, "and of course, his character has that handyman thing going on, there's nothing wrong with being handy! He's certainly giving plumbers a good name. It's every woman's fantasy that if we call 1-800-Clean-My-Pipes, that's who would show up at our door. If only it were true, we'd all be shoving Popsicle sticks down our sinks." For Lost's Evangeline Lily Holloway's sex appeal is as much about his manners as it is about his looks. "Because he plays a bad boy on the show, people assume that's how he really is," she says. "But Josh is the warmest-hearted guy and he's so chivalrous. He will carry a bag for a girl or open the door for her, and it's a really, really attractive quality. In so many ways he's a good old-fashioned Southern man." Lily isn't the only actress who appreciates chivalry. ER's Linda Cardelini recalls for TV Guide an incident that demonstrated just what a gentleman her co-star Visnjic really is. "The 1st time our characters did a love scene, I had to go topless," she says. "We have these stickers on the set that read, 'It's my special day, I've had an X-ray!' So I stuck 1 on each breast. When I took my shirt off, the crew started laughing, but Goran was so polite, so intent on looking only into my eyes, that he was the last to see them." CSI's Marg Helgenberger says that, in addition to Dourdan's physical appearance, it is his spirit that makes him so irresistible. "We were in the makeup trailer, and Gary picked up a guitar and started singing Van Morrison's 'Crazy Love,'" she recalls. "It was beautiful and proof that he can walk into a room and change the tone completely. He's a very soulful person with a poetic nature that drives women wild, and then there are the eyes and the voice to go with it. He's firing on all cylinders." What makes the rest of the guys sexy? Here is what their female co-stars told TV Guide: -- Patrick Dempsey: "Dr. McDreamy, that's what I call Patrick's character, Derek Shepherd. He's gorgeous, he's got a great body and he's got damn-fine hair." Grey's Anatomy co-star Ellen Pompeo -- Tom Westman: "The hottest thing about Tom is how much he loves his wife. There's nothing sexier than a man who isn't afraid to say that his favorite smell is the scent of his wife's neck." Survivor cast-mate, Katie Gallagher. -- Julian McMahon: "Confidence is incredibly sexy, and Julian is the most confident man ever. He's never apologetic about what he's doing; he never shows any doubt, so no matter how creepy his character's behavior is on Nip/Tuck, he does it with such swagger you almost believe he's doing the right thing. He's also 6-2 with football-player shoulders, those blue eyes and that cute (Australian) accent."" Fantastic Four" co-star Jessica Alba -- Hugh Laurie: "Hugh is a formidable man. He has a lot of power. He's very tall, with those steely blue eyes, which can be so piercing. He's got that English reserve, which is mysterious. He's incredibly intelligent, but he's also got a tremendous sense of humor." House co-star Sela Ward -- Chad Michael Murray: "There's something very mischievous about Chad. He's a prankster, and he takes pride in it. He'll leave a little present form his dog in your trailer, or make faces during your closeup, but he's got such an angle on being charming. He's got the bad-boy laugh, the blond-boy dimples, he's cute as hell." One Tree Hill co-star Hilarie Burton. -- Enrique Murciano: "He's metrosexual-sexy. He understands clothes, his house is very sexy open and breezy, with comfortable, soft furniture you can put your feet on, but he's also a really good guy. My mom got sick last year, and he called me in New Zealand on our hiatus just to ask how she was doing. He cares, and to me that's really sexy." Without a Trace co-star Poppy Montgomery -- Josh Duhamel: "He's the kind you want to marry, the 1 to bring home to mom and dad. Of course, he'd totally flirty with your mom, too; he'd have her wrapped around his finger in 5 seconds." Las Vegas co-star Molly Sims. |
