Shaun of the Dead

SOME SPOILERS!!!
Well, since I reviewed the classic Return of the Living Dead, I'd thought I'd give my favorite zombie movie, and one of my all time favorite movie a review.

Shaun of the Dead is the love child of Edgar Wright and Simon Pegg. These two lads managed to show me one of the funnyest if not THE funnyest zombie romps ever risen from the grave! This little flesh muncher open with our hero Shaun. He's got a dead end job, and relationship on the rocks, a worthless roommate (ED), and problems with his step dad. Well, his gal dumps him, his job still sucks, and his step dad doesnt help the matter. Oh, yeah. This is all happening during the dawn of a zombie apocalpyse.
What a treat and a half! This movie kicks ass! For a zombie movie we get suprisingly realistic and thoughtout charecters. I was glad the film didnt jump right into the undead carnage right away. It set all the charecters and there delema' first which was a good move. but when the shit hits the fan, its ultra fun times! One of my favorite scenes has to be when Shaun is walking to the store unaware of the carnage around him. Although funny, its also very eerie at the same time. Now thats filmmaking!
this film has so many laughs I dont think I can remember them all. The funny schmuck beinng Shaun fat, lazy, but lovable sidekick Ed (played by Nick Frost) providing most of the giggles. All Ed crashing there now dead friends car just to drive a Jaguar. Well, since Shaun feels the only way to get his girl Liz back, he realizes he's gotta kick some zombie ass! But things dont go as plane. This is where the suprisingly good drama comes into play. The movie has the best charecter drama in any zombie film. With all the fighting and bickering and screaming leading up to one tense ass scene I wont get into. but damn its pretty intense.
I also like how the film focuses on the one group of people and doesnt show worldwide panic or destruction. It felt like you are with these guys all the way. Which was good change of pace for a zombie movie. Which brings me to the zombie themselves. We got all kinds of dead asses shoveling around. For gore we get a pole in the stomach, a record in the face, an armless zombie, nasty bites, messy headshots, and the creme dela creme. A body riped apart and intestine muching ala Day of the Dead. This film delivers on the gore issue.
The ending of this film was hoot as well, turning zombie into entertainment and using them for recreation was a smart ass move in my book.
On a whole Shaun of the Dead is a gut bustingly hilarious, sometimes scary, great acted, well directed zombie movie with a great human eliment that is much appreciated in the genre. My favorite zombie outing ever. 10/10

Shaun Of The Dead is one of the funniest films ive seen in years and its good to see an amazing British flick in a sea of crap. the script is so damn funny, full of references to other films and hilarious dialogue, Shaun probably wouldnt work as well had it not had the cast that it does, they do a great job (especially Pegg) and all add to the humour shown onscreen. i was also surprised at the effects, it was gorier than i expected and the zombies looked good. the soundtrack was also fun and added to some of the scenes and made them even funnier. just thinking about this film and some of the scenes makes me laugh

I saw this movie and was amazed. I was expecting some stupid movie with cheap laughs and dumb characters. I was wrong. This movie was hilarious and had the best characters in a film. Ed and Shaun are the perfect match for laughs. I love this movie!

I thought it took a long time to build up and was at times boring. But most of the time, it was bloody hilarious, at times genuinely sad, and even scary.

9/10.

Without a doubt, the most original horror/comedy in decades!

A great story that draws you in right from the get go and doesnt let up. Shuan was the every man with every day problems, that is something that we can easily relate to. Life is pretty full you know!

Ed is a fucking 4-star RIOT!! The roommate from hell slacker who spends his days with his ass plopped on the couch playing video games, of course he sells a bit of weed every now and then.

Destined for cult classic status!

10-10 Brilliant, ghoulishly clever and delivers the goods on all counts. Leave it to the independent filmmakers to once again show the majors how its done!!

Love that dry British humor!

Another excellent choice film to review poopontheshoes7!
Bravo!!

This movie was hilarious.... Shaun and Ed complimented each other well, overall I was extremely impressed with this zom-rom-com (I've heard this term used extensively).... One of the best offerings of the year....
