HOSTEL

HOSTEL (2006)

http://hostelfilm.com/

"Be careful"

"Why's that?"

"You can spend..all your money in there"

PLOT:

"Two adventurous American college buddies, Paxton and Josh, backpack through Europe eager to make quintessentially hazy travel memories with new friend Oli, an Icelander they've met along the way. Paxton and Josh are eventually lured by a fellow traveler to what's described as a nirvana for American backpackers--a particular hostel in an out-of-the-way Slovakian town stocked with Eastern European women as desperate as they are gorgeous. The two friends arrive and soon easily pair off with exotic beauties Natalya and Svetlana. In fact, too easily. Initially distracted by the good time they're having, the two Americans quickly find themselves trapped in an increasingly sinister situation that they will discover is as wide and as deep as the darkest, sickest recess of human nature itself--if they survive. "

Genres: Suspense/Horror
Running Time: 1 hr. 35 min.
MPAA Rating: R for brutal scenes of torture and violence, strong sexual content, language and drug use.

I think pretty much every horror fan, or non horror fan on this forum and in general know what this is about. Twisted, gorey, scary, etc whatever you wanna call it. Hostel is gonna kick all sorts of ass. With the good word of mouth this is getting me excited and I, for one, can't wait to see Hostel.

So the movie is a week+ away from getting released nationwide

1/06/2006

and I'm very excited. The first horror movie of 2006

Horror movie about torture versus a movie that will be a torture to watch? I know which one I'll be seeing...

"Hardy fuckin' har" - Mr. White, Reservoir Dogs

I'll probably rent Bloodrayne on DVD, for a good laugh.

Despite my contempt for Eli Roth, Hostel looks truly badass. Hope it's better than Cabin Fever.

I'm tempted to see an early showing, too, just to avoid the teeny boppers that will no doubt make asses of themselves at night showings.

True, but my plans are, to actually watch Hostel a couple of times with a different audience, at different times of the day just to see the reaction. Asshole kids.

The toe-clipping scene in the trailer ALWAYS gets a loud "Ohhhhh" from the audience. The whole film should probably exhibit more traits of disgust, and hopefully not laughter (as in my showing of Wolf Creek).

Hopefully we wont get the "Gangsta" crowd

"Oh Shit!!!! Oh my god dwag you see that shit?! Mothafucka got his toe cut off!"

"Nigga, you trippin!!!"

*Cell Phone Rings*

"Hold on they callin me."

*Picks up phone*

"Hello?"

30 minutes later...

"He dies in the next scene?"

2 minutes later

"O Shit nigga you waz right"

Unfortunately, that dialogue was kinda verbatim when I went to see Wolf Creek.

Oh please, yeah, I hate that gangsta crowd. Dumbest of them all.

Hopefully no people talk during the movie, more cringing and screaming than talking is my kinda wish, then you absolutely know the movie delivers what it intends

I predict I'll overhear at least ONE person talking about what a great film Quentin Tarantino has made, and I will walk by quietly without commenting on the error.

It happened with Hero, it'll happen again.

I hate getting involved in altercations. I'm too inwardly withdrawn to do that.

My user name is Lazy Boy, after all...not Crazy Boy.

I don't really want to see this at all. Paying 5 bucks to be grossed out doesn't sound like fun to me.

I'm really interested in this movie, although Cabin Fever was a horrible film to me... The scene where the guy thought he was fingering the girl and he was really just sticking his finger in one of her open sores was just plain disgusting... And it would have been alright if there had been a good cohesive movie around it, but that wasn't the case.
But regardless, Hostel looks good.

I have never seen CABIN FEVER. But I will see HOSTEL since it's presented by Quentin Tarantino. I'm also looking forward to the Miike cameo.

If Miike thought it was gruesome, then that's saying something.

Am I the only one who doesn't want to see this because of the fact that it is "so gruesome?" Why does how gruesome and bloody a film is equate to how scary it is? If this was a horror film with the main intent of scaring the shit out of you, count me in. But instead, it seems to be unaminmous that it is just going to freak you out with how bizzarre and over-the-top everything is.

Im going to see this because I'm a twisted sumbich, I guess.

But no, I want to see this not only because this seems like the "first" american horror movie that looks like it doesn't suck but cause of the story and the social message it's carrying.

I caught the unrated and uncut version at The Toronto Film Festival back in September and will see it again on its opening weekend, just because it was so good and I want to see what was cut out. This movies puts Cabin Fever to shame!

But Eli Roth is such a self-congratulatory asshole that I'll skip it.
