Nick Lachey wants hand out from to be ex-Jessica Simpson

Nick Lachey Files for Spousal Support

February 17, 2006

ET has learned that NICK LACHEY has filed papers in L.A. Superior Court today requesting spousal support from JESSICA SIMPSON in response to her divorce petition. Property assets and obligations have not been established yet in the proceedings.

Jessica filed for divorce from Nick in mid-December, citing "irreconcilable differences" as the reason for the split. In her papers, Jessica is seeking to terminate the court's ability to award spousal support to Nick, and wants to restore her name back to "Jessica Simpson" from her legal married name of Jessica Simpson Lachey.

The popular "Newlyweds" fought off break-up rumors for nearly a year, then eventually announced their split last November with the following official statement:

"After three years of marriage, and careful thought and consideration, we have decided to part ways," the couple said. "This is the mutual decision of two people with an enormous amount of respect and admiration for each other. We hope that you respect our privacy during this difficult time."

The couple married in Austin, TX, in front of 350 guests in an hour-long Baptist ceremony. Jessica wore a strapless VERA WANG gown and Nick sang "My Everything," a song he wrote just for his bride.

I've got something for good old "Saint" Nick.
Call it a present.

Isn't it pretty?

NICK LACHEY IS A BITCH! WEAR IT, YOU GIANT PUSS!
SPOUSAL SUPPORT?! ARE YOU F**KING KIDDING ME?!!

What happened Mr. 98 Degrees?
Where's all of that boy band money at?!

When Eric Benet split with Halle Berry, he tried the same bullshit!

BE A F**KING MAN! EARN A F**KING LIVING! DON'T SUCKLE OFF OF YOUR SUPERIORLY MORE TALENTED / PAID EX WIFE!

Holy shit, this is unreal.

Wait. These things come in three's and I see it already.

Eric Benet
Nick Lechey
Kevin Federline (it's going to happen and you KNOW he's going to be on the "bread line"! That bullshit album of his is sitting in the bargain bins at Best Buy RIGHT NOW! Buy one PLEASE BUY ONE, get six free!)

Maybe they could form a band called Summer's Eve.
Motherf**ker!

What's fair is fair- they had no prenup and she earned a lot more money than he did AFTER the marriage but he had earned more before so I think the money is fair game- HOWEVER- if it turns out that he was cheating on her, I don't think he should be entitled to any of it since he brought the divorce about through double dealing. If she was the one cheating, then she needs to pay him a lot!

What a loser. Isn't getting to fuck the brains out of Jessica Simpson (I know, I know she doesn't have any) enough of a payment? I mean Tom Arnold had to fuck a cow like Rosanne to get paid.

Okay, look.
She can sing and she's hot, which is why she's paid.
There's SOME talent there, no?

Obviously, if Mr. 98 Degrees is trying to get spousal support, no one's ringing his cellphone for a singing gig.

And just like I said before, a man who demands money from a woman after a divorce IS A GINORMOUS BITCH!

This metrosexual needs to be more of a f**king man! Cancel a few manicure appointments, pass on the scalp treatments and EARN A F**KING LIVING!

He should be entitled to something after having to put up with that brainless twit, her untalented sister, and their creepy ass father for three years.

I 100% AGREE!!!! get her nick!!!!!!!! because if it was the other way around you know she would get you!!!

dont matter who cheated she should pay! there are thousands of guys rich and working class who have had their wives cheat on them and they still have to pay the whores simply because they make more $$$ from their jobs!

...or, he should just be entitled to bang her on a regular basis if he gets no money....but the $$$ would last longer!

How's that fair? If a person (male or female) cheats on a spouse, then they should get no benefit from the marriage at all. I also hate when I hear stories about how a man finds out that the son that he loves was not his biological son after all but that his wife had cheated on him- teh judges say the married guy still has to pay for the kid cause the kid was made during the marriage. I always wonder why these guys don't sue for damages outside of divorce court to get back at the woman.

nope its not fair, but it happens to dudes everyday. i jus think its kinda funny how she was all lovey dovey when they first got married (and he was making more money than her) and now its the other way around and shes out the door. it was rumored she was cheating on him, i think if he could prove that then he deserves money. if he jus wants to get paid then he needs to kick rocks.....but ultimately, nobody says anything when the men are forced to pay ridiculous amounts of money per month to support someone they are no longer married to but when a guy does it somehow it makes him less of a man? bullshit.

as far as finding out your kid is not your kid an you still have to pay anyway thas gotta be hell. i dont know whats wrong with these judges.

I think it was Jamie Fox I saw commenting on this "issue" last night on one of the entertainment shows and he thought this wasn't a manly thing to do- to get money from a woman.

I'm inclined to agree.

Besides, look at whores like Anna Nicole Smith. Women have been doing it for years. Nothing wrong with Nick gettin his.

Unless of course he cheated..then he deserves dick.

easy to say when you have an oscar and get no less than $7 million per movie. i wonder if he would change his tune if he was forced to dress up as "Wanda" making minimum wage or just not making enough to live that hollywood lifestyle as everybody else, lol.

it'd be nice for a change for some broad to have to pay alimony. afterall, theres more women that want to get married than men and the women are mainly the ones filing for divorce. ironic.

now i cant say that i would try to get her for alimony, but i know if i was rich it'd be a whole lot more women trying to do it to me if we were to get a divorce. thas the first question they ask: How much do I get?

I think they BOTH cheated
I think alimony in general started out as a good thing and with time spiraled into the horror show that it is
I still think Nick is a giant puss for crying for alimony.
Yes, women have been doing it for years, but I'm sure those millions of women brought SOMETHING to those relationships.
SEX, companionship, SEX, citizenship, SEX, SEX.

Did I mention SEX?

I don't think Nick Lackey was providing anything but face time on that horrible ass television show. If the rumors are true, they were both getting so much action on the side, that's all their marriage was.

So Jessica has: $37 million dollars (just an example)
And Nick Lackey has: $12,000 from the 98 Degrees days, a few coupons for Taco Bell, and a bus receipt

She should give up money every month to this douche for the few "pokes" he tossed at her in their time together? He treated her like an idiot on TV (doesn't matter if she is, it's still foul) and slept around (allegedly) on her.

But it's her millions!

Women have been doing it for years and it wasn't right when they did it.
So it's okay when it's Mrs. Chicken of the Sea?

MAYBE I'M WRONG. Taking off my gloves. Gonna leave this topic alone.
I'm just one of those older guys that believe in love, the sanctity of marriage and that its something that should be cherished.

Not an idea for a reality television show where the grand prize is half of someone's dough and some tabloid time.

Again, I'm just an idiot with a bunch of crazy ass opinions. Don't mind me. Those "folks from the home" will catch up with me eventually and this time, maybe I'll stay put.

1. California is a no-fault state. It doesn't matter who banged who.

2. Both of them allegedly "cheated", though absolutely nobody has confirmed this rumor one way or another.

3. She made much more money. He was pretty much Mr. Mom.

4. For as many women I've seen getting away with this behavior and draining their ex-spouses of their loot, I'm all for the men doing the same. She can afford it. Welcome to equal rights in America.

Believe it or not,Rusty, I agree with you about the sanctity of marriage.I certainly feel that way about my marriage.

I don't for one moment believe this marriage had any sanctity at all. Whatever sanctity it may have had went out the window with that shit reality show. I do think it's "un-manly" for Nick to get a hand-out but if not for him she never would have risen above a third rate Britney wanna be status.

You raise a good point- if Jessica didn't do that Newlywed show who is to say that her career would've taken off like it did. I cetainly had minimal awareness of her until after the show was on the air and she started being seen everywhere. I have a feeling Nick will go on to have a good career himself- he is a handsome and likeable guy.

Although I am not against him suing for his share I am not sure that is the best move for his career cause it makes him look like the Anna Nicle Smiths of the world at a a time when he seems to be getting some positive attention (especially with his bro on Dancing With the Stars).

As a women. I say he has as much right as a women. I think it is funny that women bitch about wanting to be equal as men. It should go with divorce too. I just read that women are starting to make more than men. We live in different times. In my mom's age (she is now 72) women didn't have much. Most women either worked far less than men or was housewives. Now women run companies. I say he should get to apply for support. By California law he and his soon to be ex will split what ever they had together down the middle. So either way he gets money.

So the biggest fucking loser out there is your hero?

I think this story is ridiculous. But unfortunately, not anymore ridiculous that anything that's been going on with these two or their "marriage".

And call me old-fashioned, but I do agree with Jamie Foxx for once -- it's unmanly, undignified, and generally just plain pathetic to sue your ex-wife for financial support. Especially when the only reason people know who the fuck you are is because you were married to her in the first place and made a show of it on TV.

I get ya, Snoopy.
Sitting back and reading from this thread, I see exactly what all of the Schmoes are saying.
I can now look at it from several different points of view.
I simply sigh for this world of ours sometimes, but hey...

Thank you, fellow Schmoes.

I only ever seen 1 episode of newlyweds.(and that was because my woman wanted to see it i swear )

During the episode Nick walked into the toilet just after Jessica had been in there. Then he came running out shouting "Oh my God.....Jessica"

She replied "Oh come on you know you love my stinky ass"

I no longer find that woman sexy.

It's also why I wait at least 30 minutes before going to bathroom after a girl. I don't care how happy you are with your woman you walk into the same situation he did and the love just flies out of the window.

I guess the reason I don't think he should get a dime I kind of equate to multi-million dollar athletes who claim they need a raise to support their families.

"I need spousal support your honor because she made 30 million last year and I only made 2 million."

(Yeah I know, I have no idea how much he made but you see what I'm getting at)

Now if she had married some guy who worked at Wal-Mart, then yeah, pony up some dough, but I'm sure he brings in more in a year than I will in 10 so I can't find much sympathy for him. This also goes for if it was the other way around.

Well, different point of view. You see it as "banged hot celebrity and got big payout from it", I see it as "took advantage of so-called marriage to stupid hot blonde, made a mockery of his own marriage on national television just to extend his 15mn of fame, and when he was done exploiting said stupid hot blonde's fame by riding her tailcoats, and after cheating on her, called HER into blame for also cheating on HIM, sues her for financial support, despite the fact that any way, shape, or form of success he already has in life depended on being her hubby."

I dont see Nick starving to death, and asking for money from your ex (being a guy) is crap...there are circumstances where you should get money from the ex (there are kids involved and one parent spent 20 years raising them, hence no job for all that time) but to support him so he can have the life he WAS accustmed to...I would try working a thirty-five hour week before asking your ex for grocery money, mate.
