even though, SHH confirmed it, I don't need their confirmation to support my statement that it's a black suit. There's been way too much talk that Venom is in Spidey 3. This poster, plays a very neat trick on the audience. It uses a grim, rainy background (clouds and rain) and mixes Spidey, sitting on top of a pillar in a black suit. There's no way you can tell me that it's a regular suit Spidey wears, because even then you would be able to see colors if Spidey was in a rainy environment such as in that poster.

put 2 and 2 together, and you will be able to understand this strategy with the poster. It's more of a strategy to get people guessing and talking. It's like a clue that Venom is in Spider-Man 3

So, I don't get it - Is that an image of Venom? Notice how Sony seem to be misleading us here.

We don't see the mouth-area of the suit there, or the logo, so that could very well be Venom.

Spiderman 3 will showcase Eddie Brock, NOT Venom. (Or at least until the end) Kind of like how the next Batman movie will showcase Harvey Dent, NOT Two-Face.

Now, I know that there are a couple different orgins of the symbiote, my favorite being that John Jameson (Son of JJJ) brings it back with him on a space rock from outer space, and it latches onto Peter and he ends up rejecting it, to which it finds a new host on discraced reporter Eddie Brock. (This will probably be a sub-plot for Spiderman 3) Now, the whole "John Jameson going to space" thing was already established in Spiderman 2, so it seems very probable that they will introduce the symbiote that way.

Oh come one! Sure it doesn't look bad, but it doesn't look great, or bitching. IT's just painted black! That had to have been the easiest job ever! I would have liked to see them CHANGE it to resemble the symbiote costume, but no, let's just spray it black.

I mean yes it's not black and white, but they make it appear dark, it's a neat style how they colored it with filters, IMO not knowing much about the picture, is it's the regular spiderman suit just made to look kickass at night for a teaser poster.

Well yeah, obviously it's the regular suit, but it's photoshopped. Read my original post above on my theory. But it is a black suit, even Sony confirms it, and I don't need their support to prove it's a black suit myself. It's just that any colored suit would still show colors in the dark. This one doesn't, at all.

it seems like they're getting sloppy. the film will be great, like the previous ones, but with a budget like they have why not hire a creative team to make something great. the black suit in the comic was and still is awesome. i wish they could have made something in between and not just make his old costum black.

Pretty decent poster, but I'm going to have to agree that it does look a bit too much like the "Spider-Armor" suit from the mid 90's than what the symbiote suit really should look like.

Even IF it is the symbiote who says its going to STAY that way.

One of the scoopers said something like 'dont worry, it wont be like that for long'.

Maybe as the suit gets its hold on Spidey it begins to change. To develop its own personality. Which is one of the clues that makes Peter ditch it.

Ok, from an avid comic reader, I happen to think it looks awesome. You all need to stop complaining about how it doesnt look EXACTLY like it does in the comics. Has anything else? Let's not forget everyone, that the symbiote is supposed to mimic the suit based on Peter's thoughts, so....wouldn't it make sense to have a black version of the old suit? Just becuase the web patters look plastic, doesn't mean they actually ARE plastic. If the symbiote can mimic all forms of regular clothing, it can mimic some basic web patterns.

As previously stated, I think it looks Bitchin.
