"American Idol" judge Paula Abdul suffered back injuries and concussion after being attacked at a private party on April 2.

Police are investigating the case as battery, but have no suspects. Former pop singer Abdul reported the incident to authorities on Tuesday.

The 43-year-old says the injuries were caused during an argument that saw her slammed against the wall by a man.

Los Angeles police spokeswoman April Harding says, "She claimed she was at a private party on April 2nd and that at 1 a.m. an argument occurred between her and a man and that the man grabbed her by the arm and threw her against a wall.

"She claimed to have suffered a concussion and spinal injuries. She saw her own doctor and at the time of the report said she would make herself available for photographs (of her injuries)."

Despite the incident, Abdul has made regular appearances on live "American Idol" shows this week.

Poor woman. I wouldn't wish any ill will on her, even if I make the occasional joke at her expense.

That said, I'd put this guy on the list of suspects:



...after all, he tried to hook her up with some guys on his show. That would pretty much reduce him to the status of pimp. And that can't be good for his show.

As far as Ms. Abdul goes, I've been a fan of hers for a long time so I can't speak ill of her...I just hope this isn't one of those incidents that pop up to stir up ratings or divert public attention.
