I've never seen it but from what I've heard, it's in black and white.

I'm sure someone else can verify this.

"Rumble Fish" is indeed in black and white, with touches of color, ala Sin City in a few places.

Is it like The Outsiders? Other then a few similarities with setting, it really isn't anything like it. The Outsiders is much better.

Both The Outsiders and Rumble Fish are books written by the same author, and of course the movies are both directed by Francis Fird Coppola, so I'd say they're somewhat similar. Both deal with teenage hoods in the 50's too, so there you go. But I do agree that the tone of each is much different.

And actually, I like Rumble Fish a hell of a lot more than I like The Outsiders. In fact, I consider Rumble Fish to be Coppola's forgotten masterpiece. Or at least near-masterpiece. I wouldn't rank it on the same level as The Godfather, Apocalypse Now, or The Conversation, but it's not as far behind as many people would have you believe, in my opinion.

That's quite a compliment. Since I love the Outsiders, I should check this out.
