I'm Going to Go Out and Say It Because It Has To Be Said.....

Go Ask Alice was not written by a real person. It's a work of fiction, people. It's amazing that it's even legal to publish stuff like this and pass it off as nonfiction. Anybody agree? Disagree?

Just curious, is this speculation or do you have any substantial proof? Never read the book, but was always interested in doing so.

The proof is within. The diary is written in the form of a novel. If it were a real diary, it wouldn't contain just a day-by-day account of what happened while doing a certain drug. The girl makes little mention of what is happening in her social life and mainly talks about her addictions. Plus, she uses huge words that teenage drug addicts would not use. The characters also do things that people don't do while on certain drugs. For instance, the people on heroin get really horny even though heroin is known for killing any sexual desires.

Plus, the editor of the novel actually admitted that she wrote parts of it for the sake of drama. She claims the diary of the real girl is kept in some secret vault and the rest of it was burned.
