Dawn of War: Soulstorm
This is the new expansion tot eh Warhammer 40k RTS Dawn of War, and i gotta say i'm not impressed thus far.
Havn't played to far into the game but what i have played there hasn't bee n much improvement. The new units are that every army noew has a single 'flying' unit they can make, which are pretty laughable and as far as i know some don't even exist in the actual game of WH40K.
I've tried the Dark Eldar (will probably never touch the Sisters of Battle) and they are quite difficult to use. They apparently specialized in hit and run and are all about busting cause dmg then bustnig back out again but can't take enemy fire for shit. Also these fast units they speak of can't be made til atleast the second tier and the AI in incredably aggressive for normal difficulty. Their biggest draw back though is the total lack of turrets. All's they can build are 2 versions of a building, one that effects enemy moral and the other makes it easier to harvest souls (the fuel for your cool Dark Eldar powers) but harveting souls wasn't really hard to come by so these buildings are pretty useless compared to what they should be doing.
The champaign mode is pretty similar excpet you have 4 planets (something like 26 territories) to take over. The difficult thing is is that depending on what race you chose will dictate who you fight against in the begining and getting to other planets means capturing certain territories to get the transport a opposed to say having an open board like in Dark Crusade.
As the Dark Eldar you have to take on the Chaos first and let me tell you i got maimed as the Dark Eldar just can't stand up to the standard fire power. I'm sure it will just take some getting used to just like with the Necrons and how their requisition and such are different but it seemed like i could barely produce more troops faster then they were getting killed (and this is with sped up training upgrades as well).
If you enjoyed the other Dawn of War stuff then i suggest checking htis out but if you can downlaod it and try it first cause it may not be worth the money.
