Celebrities who Smoke Cigarettes: Yay or Nay?

It's all a matter of opinion here.... you're either a smoker, or you're not. I for one do not smoke cigarettes, and its one of the biggest turn-offs in my opinion. The recent Katherine Heigl thread reminded me of celebrities who smoke, so I found a huge list of celebs with the filthy habit. What do you think? Yay or Nay?

As a life long asthmatic, anything that involves smoke is a major turn off to me.

I don't mind one way or another. I'm not anti-smoking, but there's definitely a place for it (away from crowds and my food!). If you smoke with courtesy to others, I'm fine with it.
And don't try kissing me until your smoke-smell is gone. I'll do the same for you!

Outside of that, I'd rather a celebrity be a smoker than a drug addict, alcoholic or an abusive spouse. It's up to YOU to destroy your health.

I am a non cigarette smoker but I do smoke weed everynow and then. I dont really mind if people smoke as long as they dont blow it in my face its all good.

I do like chicks that are 420 friendly though.

I am ashamed to admit it, but I am a smoker. It's not something I'm proud of, and I've tried to quit more times than I can count. Obviously I don't judge celebrities who smoke. I don't think smoking looks alluring and at the same time I don't think it's an instant turn off. But what really pisses me off is how the MPAA is trying to curb smoking shown in films, that shit's not needed. I give a lot of respect to actors who are nonsmokers who will smoke for a film role because it's part of the character. That's great professionalism.

I'm not a smoker, and don't have a smoking fetish, but sometimes women who smoke are kind of sexy.

Smoking is the largest turn off for me. Definitely NAY.

This is pretty much the perfect description of my thoughts:

Really good looking woman walking down the street, I stare. She pulls out a cigarette, I say "Fuck that shit!" and look elsewhere.

Never understood smoking, it taste like crap, it makes your clothes stink and it's just a bloody annoying habit.

However it wouldn't necessarily turn me off a chick, I just wouldn't kiss her until she was smoke free.

It's a turn off for me. I'm still sad that my number one gal, Kate Beckinsale, smokes. I still wouldn't turn her down though.

Yeah...nothing more off-putting than a babe with a cancer stick hanging out of her mouth.

I could never be with a girl who smoked, no matter how much I liked her. Same goes for girls with tattoos and/or piercings (other than the ears) and/or dye jobs.

I'm a lifer as well. But the whole smoking in films uproar is ridiculous to me. I'm also rather sick of those Truth commercials. (Why on DVDs?) As for celebrities... Or anyone... Quite a risky habit though I can only imagine how difficult it is to quit (if you're trying to).

i don't believe that list. there are a handful of actors (well known) i know first-hand that they smoke because ive seen it with my own 2 eyes, to name just 2: clancy brown and dennis quaid.

smoking is the biggest turn-off hands down. i actually was having an interesting conversation with a girl one time, she pulled out a cig, lit it, and i said "good talk" and walked away. she had no idea what happened, which is good because smoking = gross.

Anyone, celebrity or not, gets a nay for smoking.

Neither yay nor nay; I'm indifferent.

As long as I don't have to suffer their secondhand fumes, smokers can puff and drag away to their heart's content.

Plus...I used to smoke, so I'd be kind of a hypocrite if I judged them and stuff.

I have to agree here. It's a free country, something we pride ourselves on. If you choose to associate with someone just because they don't smoke, that's your call.

I was surprised however to learn Christian Bale is a smoker. He mentioned it an interview. I just had an image of Batman lighting up after a huge fist fight, haha.

Also, I am a smoker. I went 18 years without smoking, had one bad day and haven't looked back since. It's only been a little over a year but seeing both sides of the spectrum, starting is easy and quitting is hard.

But really. Who cares if an actor takes a smoke break between takes? Will it ruin the movie for you?

Country? Celebrities live all over the world. I don't care for it, but I'm a casual smoker, I enjoy an occasional flavoured cigarello and weed once in awhile. So who the fuck am I to judge?

I can't help but laugh whenever I see somebody smoking and you can tell they think they're really cool for doing it. Disgusting habit, can't stand being around people that smoke, they reek.

Wish I had noticed this thread before the one about the woman from Under Siege 2: Dark Territory.

I'm in the same boat as henchman on this one, as far as being an ex-smoker.
My girlfriend smokes, but is cool about getting rid of the smoke taste before our mouths merge. Other than that I have no qualms.

I don't MIND if people smoke, it's their lungs after all, and as far as actors go it has no bearing on whether I'm a fan or not.

In my personal life though, I don't think there's a bigger turn off than a girl who smokes, it's a deal breaker, plain and simple. Honestly, you could be talking about the hottest woman on the planet and I still wouldn't want to kiss her if she was going to taste like an ashtray.

I don't care.

I'm a sorta former smoker. Well, I used to smoke before I was pregnant...then gave up throughout the pregnancy and until the baby was about 3 months old.

Although recently I've been having a sly cigarette and glass of wine in the garden when the baby has gone to bed.

Never smoked around him, never will...and I don't allow others to. I plan on giving up again very soon...before he's old enough to realise what smoking actually is and start trying to imitate his foolish mummy.

But I digress.

Everybody goes on about the smell...well, I've met non-smokers who smell far worse than any smoker I know. And pubs smell fucking TERRIBLE since the ban...all musty, and sweaty, and just pretty awful. And they seem to be closing down at a rapid rate...so I'm not sure I support the ban at all.

Smoking is a silly habit, yes...because it causes cancer and for no other reason IMO.

But like I said...I don't care what others do.

Thats ironic, I've been dicussing this at length with my mates and you're spot on. Prior to smoking being banned we used to complain about getting home and stinking of smoke, now we're complaining about the smell of stale beer.......so we're moving outside to the smoking area...go figure.

Seriously? Or are you just pulling my leg.

The pubs in Britain now smell foul in my opinion. Cigarette smoke was masking many a sin...body odour, stale beer, terrible perfumes, vomit, etc. I went to a quaint little pub a few months ago, and all my friends and i could smell was stale ale and vinegary red wine spew. VILE!

I hate smokers who puff away in bus shelters, doorways etc. Or stroll down the street with ciggie in hand and arms swinging. They are a hazard! I don't think smoking should be allowed in restaurants, shopping centres, public transport and anywhere family orientated.

I'd rather it was kept to the comfort of ones own home or public houses.

I'm a smoker, most the girls I have dated are smokers. So it's obviously not a turn-off for me.

Come from a family of smokers (Winston 100's and Newports primarily) but I never picked up the habit. Don't like it or the lasting effects.
Personally, if you smoke, I ain't knockin' ya.
I don't think it's good for you and anyone around you that emulates you might copy your actions, BUT who are we to say "you're a star! you shouldn't smoke! kids are watching!"

They were smoking before they hit it big and now, it's a habit.
A tough one to kick, as I understand.
I don't think it's healthy or cool, but I'm just Rusty.
I have no right to tell any celebrity to stop puffing.
If they decide to quit for their own health or to change that image, then that's cool.

I wouldn't turn someone down because of smoking but it is an ugly habbit, a major pain in the ass and just all around unattractive.

I've come to terms with smoking and people who smoke since they constitute the vast majority of people I know. If I can accept them doing it, I think I can stomach Kate Winslet doing it.

That said, it's an insanely bad habit that has been brilliantly marketed over the years.

I'd rather date a smoker with a cute laugh.

Then a non-smoking health freak with a batshit crazy laugh.

Basically I could care less and people who rag on smokers are annoying.

You know what's an even worst habit than smoking? Shoveling disgusting, calorie loaded food down your throat for most of your meals. Where's all the real outburst over our country being so fucking fat.

I work out, I eat healthy, and I smoke.

Its better than a non-smoker, who doesn't do shit, and eats like a cow.

Such a true statement, there is nothing more unattractive than some overweight person. It's disgusting.

Overweight people don't annoy me like smokers since smoking smells disgusting and when blown to your area is incredibly annoying.

Plus, second hand smoke can actually pretty harmful but there are no kinds of effects like that with fat people.

Except i cant get second-hand smoking from an overweight guy.

I dont care if the person next too me eats more then he should, but i do care if he puffs smoke around me.

I agree about the overweight problems with America, and I love working out and i do watch what i eat as well, but all the exercise in the world isnt going to save u from lung cancer with that habit. I lost both my grandfather to it, its not fun.

Your just substituting one vice for another.
