I saw at BB today a preorder steelbook for Michael Jackson's "This Is It", it's 5-bucks to buy the steelbook and preorder (no DVD's inside). It's a DVD sized steelbook with both DVD and Blu-ray available. You have to look closely and make out which one is for DVD and for Blu-ray since they both are identical to eachother with the format logo being the exception. I wish they did that with The Hangover instead of this...but I enjoyed "This Is It", it's a fitting tribute to the king of pop.

Anyway, I caved in and preordered, here are pics:

Hmmm...had no idea anyone was even doubting my post. Anyway, thanks xage and skynet for backing me up, that's awesome . I grew up listening to Michael Jackson, his music, songs has influenced my life, I saw "This Is It" at the theater and it was a sad, but amazing experience to see what could have been. Long live the king of pop and what a beautiful steelbook to pay tribute to what could have been an amazing tour for Michael Jackson. I know some steelbook collectors here won't buy it, but I am so happy this film got the steelbook treatment as many fans will truly appreciate it.

No one said they doubted you.....I don't get why he said "many" since no one posted after you anyway. Weird.

Mick's original post spreaded like a wildfire last Sunday on almost all Steelbook related forums. And majority doubted his post that the bluray is similar with the dvd steelbook.

- I may hate what bestbuy did, but like Mick, Im an MJ fan!

ditto that xage!

Now it all makes sense, thanks.

I guess the shelf obsessed collectors there on those forums couldn't handle a DVD sized Blu-ray steelbook.

Xage you should post pics of your entire DVD and BD and HD-DVD collection (not just Steelbooks but EVERYTHING) to the appropriate thread someday. What do you think?

Grabbed the D9 Steelbook from Futureshop this morning. Glad I didn't order online. Apparently Sony messed up HUGE and didn't send them any to fulfill any of their web-orders! So all the stock that are in stores is IT and they're going fast.
Sony didn't put any digital copies in the cases either, so it's a single disc Blu.

It's a SWEET case though. My second fave next to Cloverfield.

Disney Bluray Steelbooks (North American (Bestbuy/Futureshop Release)

Kudos to Canada's Futureshop bringing in additional 7 G2 Steelbooks (on top of the 13 Disney ones) among their exclusive offers:

Great closing 2009 year for North American G2 Steelbooks!

Just got the District 9 HMV UK exclusive 1-disc DVD steelbook in the mail today. It is a well done steelbook, with an impressive layout. The cool thing about it is there is no ratings logo or region code attached to the actual steelbook. So say you have the R1 2-disc DVD, you place both discs in the steelbook with disc 2 in like a paper sleeve. Here are some pics:

Does anyonw know where these kind of cases are sold:

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v1...80/dvdcase.jpg

They're thin platic type that are flat and have to be folded to shape when ready to use. I thought I got them from bags unlimited a year or so ago, but they're not on thier site anymore(that i could find anyway). I use them for my steelbooks and I'm about out of them. I've tried googling everything possible thing and can't seem to find them. I fail to believe that no one on the WWW is selling these anymore.

Anybody have any idea what this New Moon 2 Disc Steelbook Presell Card is that's up on Best Buy's website now? http://www.bestbuy.com/site/New+Moon...book&lp=2&cp=1 It's only $10, so it can't be a preorder for the steelbook, but I don't know what a presell card is.

it sounds like it is just a pre-order for the upcoming New Moon DVD... so they will be having an exclusive 2 Disc DVD SteelBook for the new twilight flick.. and you just have to throw down $10 on it for now, and then when it is released you pay the difference.

I preordered the Snow White and UP steelbooks from them, and it was a similar way, not sure if they ahve the steelbook already in store or not (the way Up did it was you paid a min $7 down on the Blu Ray (or dvd) and you got the steelbook right then, and then on release date you came in and picked up your copy of Up on Blu ray, and if you wanted to you could transfer the discs to the already owned steelbook)!

Hope that cleared it up and wasnt confusing!

welcome to the forums

This is probably the most screwed-up release by Bestbuy but beginning to get RARE

1. It is a steelbook where the coverart is made out of sticker

2. A fat jumbo steelbook

3. Majority of the steelbook's craft is made out of plastic than steel

4. It was originally scheduled for release at March 7 until they moved it to March 2 of this yr.

5. Its an opposing side of availibility among various Bestbuy stores some were able to get a huge quantity of it while others were 0 availability.

6. The change of availibility resulted to major retraction from Bestbuy:

Dear _ _ _ _,

Thank you for your recent Lord of the Rings Trilogy steelbook case (sku# 9794135) order on BestBuy.com.

Due to a system error the steelbook case appeared on our website before it was supposed to. As a result, your order will be canceled; however, it will be available starting on Sunday, March 7, 2010 where it will be part of a pre-order offer with the Blu-ray version of The Lord of the Rings Trilogy. The offer will work as follows: pre-order the Blu-ray version of The Lord of the Rings Trilogy and receive The Lord of the Rings Steelbook case for free. Note you must add both items into the Cart to receive this offer. If you are interested in this promotion please visit BestBuy.com this Sunday to place an order for this offer.

Please note there is a limited supply on the steelbook case so place your order early!

If you have any questions please call us toll-free at 1-888-BEST BUY (1-888-237-8289) and our customer care agents can assist you.

We are sorry for any inconvenience this may have caused.

Thank you for shopping at BestBuy.com,

7. I tried pre-ordering once again from the site, despite showing availability this is what showing at their system:

1 Lord Of The Rings Trilogy Pre-Sell Steelbook - Blu-ray Disc units are not available at the store you have selected. Please return to your cart to reduce the quantity, select a different store or remove this product.

8. Strong susceptibility to Dent, Bubble, surface scratched or peeled (due to strong gumtype adhesive placed) - so if shipped huge chances it might be damaged.

9. Sideshowcollectibles selction as of the moment are a expensives. $50 is hardly valuable

10. Chances are for those who got a purchase pass of March 7 (upon not getting it last March 2) its a Hit & Miss (50/50) chances.

Oh well, its the enjoyment of Steelbook Collecting

And as it won the Best Director & Best Picture Award today at the 2010 Oscar (Academy) Awards - The surge in demand will go up for this truly remarkable film released in an ODDLY G1 steelbook but RARE and SCARCE in quantity

Quote:
This is specifically meant for US - since the Bluray (same as the bluray logo printed in front of it) disc & movie information is part of the steelbook art printed at the back of it and not just a silly paper sleeve.

Now thats add up validity of a future rarity.

This release is Weird yet Admirable (in a different way)

1. First Summit released steelbook in North America
2. First Bluray with a dvd sized steelbook that has printed Bluray logo
3. The Movie is not bad, its actually good blindbuy movie
4. Steelbook collectors dislike it
5. Its superbly rare/limited in quantity
