Hey folks, just wanted to pop in and bring up ANOTHER rumor that is 100 shades of AWESOME pertaining to this film:

Apparently, Lady Gaga is being approached to write and perform the theme song! Awesome. I have total faith in her, and god knows the video is going to be something else. Who would have ever thought that Gaga, Rachel Weisz, Sam Mendes and Peter Morgan would all be working on the same project? Not in my wildest dreams...

I really hope all of this is true. I got excited when Amy Winehouse was in talks to do the last Bond theme, but then I was very disappointed when it was instead Alicia Keys and Jack White.

Dear fuckin God, NO!

Please, no "GaGa." If Bond theme history has taught us anything its that you don't go with the flash in the pan artist. In this case, yeah, it could work, but I'd rather someone with a more Bondish quality about them like the previously rumored contender, Duffy.

I agree, no Gaga... though she wouldn't be the first flash-in-the-pan artist to do a Bond theme (A-Ha comes to mind). : ? As far as females go with Bond themes, the bigger the voice (without becoming bombastic -- sorry, Whitney, Mariah, and Christina ), the more effective they tend to be.

Right on. I'm with you on Duffy. She seems to almost channel Shirley Bassey in some of her tunes every once in awhile and when rumors of her involvement were mentioned some time ago, I thought it was a splendid idea.

I like GaGa, but let's face it, the talent is never an indication of how good the Bond theme is, Jack White and Alicia Keys made a remarkably unmemorable theme.

I'm for giving GaGa a chance, as long as she doesn't try to appear in the opening.

Gaga can actually handle that quite well - beneath the voice modification on her more dance-oriented songs, she actually has quite an incredible voice:

I think she can totally do it - she is basically a chameleon in her songs and performances, so I can totally see her taking on a Bond-themed "persona" for the theme song. It'll be great.

That said, Duffy would be a REALLY awesome choice indeed, I must concur.

Gaga doing the theme for Bond would be an experience for sure.

I'd prefer somebody else than Lady Gaga doing the theme song but at least it couldn't be as bad as Madonna's.

Great idea with DUFFY doing the theme. That would be great. She has that classic Bond singer voice. For being a British hero i'm kinda bothered sometimes of the fact that American singers do the opening song. Interesting

The nationality of the artist shouldn't play into if they would do a great theme for Bond. I love Duffy to death and do really hope that the gets to do the theme. Her voice is just several layers of awesome. Gaga, I don't think would b a bad choice. Beyond all her very pop/dance music, there is actually a great songstress and performer. She just might have it in her. I love her stuff (which is saying something) but if I would have to pick I would say that Duffy would be an amazing choice.

I don't that the Muse was trying to throw their towel in, either.

I think a great Bond theme should reflect what's to be seen in the movie. That's what made Quantum of Solace's theme so terrible, you have Alicia Keys (a perfect choice) and Jack White (who can barely be heard throughout the course of the song). For Bond 23, I wouldn't mind either Winehouse, Duffy, or Gaga; all three have eccentric voices but I think Duffy would honestly be the best choice.

James Bond 23 Delayed Indefinitely

Quote:
With the future of MGM still uncertain, James Bond producers Michael G Wilson and Barbara Broccoli have suspended development on the next James Bond film previously scheduled for release 2011/2012. “Due to the continuing uncertainty surrounding the future of MGM and the failure to close a sale of the studio, we have suspended development on Bond 23 indefinitely. We do not know when development will resume and do not have a date for the release of Bond 23,” stated Michael G Wilson and Barbara Broccoli jointly.

While the next Bond may be delayed for now, the franchise is one of the crown jewels of the MGM library and whoever ends up getting control of the studio will obviously move forward with the next installment the day after the paperwork is signed. After all, the last Bond film cost $200 million and it made $586 at the worldwide box office.

Shit thats the worst news I've heard in a long ass time. To think if they kept the same duration between sequels as the first two, the 3rd Craig Bond would be coming out in only 7 months!! Absolutely awful news...

I had a feeling this was going to happen. This is further proof why the Bond series should belong to Warner Bros.

Fuck Paramount. Those cocksuckers chose Lovely Bones over Shutter Island for Oscar promotion. Fuckin' morons. How dare they tell Scorsese "no" when his last film landed him Best Pic AND Director.

Bond should just die.

I would be more supportive of Bond if it weren't for the West's policy of invading every fucking country who coincidently refuse to borrow money from American banks. I just don't consider a modern day Bond to be heroic, he'll simply be a tool working for a corrupt Western alliance whose majority decisions only benefit the greedy bankers.

Hey, the "I got a boner while watching Last House on the Left" guy is back!

But in all seriousness, as you've been told before, if you wanna talk politics, ask for entrance to the Politics forum. Keep it out of my thread.

I'd rather stick with a company that wouldn't delay the film because their funds can't cover the Oscar promotion for Shutter Island.

worst news of the week. things were looking up for Bond 23 creatively. Its one of those situations where based on interviews you definitely get the feeling that they know how messy Quantum was, and want to make the third "independent, a bit lighter, etc."

hope it's gets its feet on the ground sooner rather than later. i don't want to even imagine the idea of Craig not returning.

Last House on the Left? that's just wrong, dude, you got issues!

I Spit On Your Grave is more my thing. Now that's a hot movie.

I didn't/don't want to go into some long talk on politics. But its hard not to briefly bring up politics as Bond is a politico tool, always has been.

Dench says she's needed in 2011 to film it, and I'll not argue with that:http://www.mtv.ca/moviehead/article.jhtml?id=25782

A Summer 2012 release isn't too bad.

But I still hope Bond dies in it. Some South American dictator feeding Bond to his King Cobra. Cool.

See, this I don't understand. I thought Sony did buy MGM a couple years back, hence the Columbia logo in front of the last movie.

This. Having seen both films, I have no idea how they came to that decision.

I'd much rather see Warner Bros. grab the property. They're definitely the least intrusive of the big studios.

My prediction IF this isn't shooting by the close of 2011...It'll be so long Daniel Craig -regardless of whats in contract at present.

I would have no problem with a Bond movie with Bond dying in it . . . but not like that. That's too generic and anti-climactic. It should be something heroic and/or the like.

I hope not and I think it would be a dumb and bad move by the producers. Craig was just getting going with the character and the story, and was doing a really good job with it. If they do decide to recast, I hope they continue with what they were doing: Bond growing as a double-oh.

Ah fuck. And with Peter Morgan, Sam Mendes involved and Rachel Weisz possibly courting the role of the VILLAIN no less, this was really shaping up to be one of the most interesting Bond projects in recent memory. It's a real shame that this fell apart. Will someone fucking buy MGM already? It can't be THAT risky an investment - the Bond franchise alone should keep whomever buys the studio going for quite a while!

Hopefully, but MGM's financial problems are far from over. The Hobbit greenlight is a step in the right direction, but I'm not very optimistic at the moment.

I kind of hope they just sell every Bond property they have to Sony.

It would suck if it becomes one of those pick and choose deals, like what they had with Fox in the 80's. Fox could make Never Say Never Again, but were not allowed to use some of the Bond aspects that United Artists brought- the theme, the opening, Q, the one liners, etc.
