Really one of the most interesting characters on television.

I must have a different definition of "ugly" from y'all. Sure I think Buscemi is a bit 'rodenty' and weather-worn but his face hardly offends me...in fact, I think he has quite a charming smile and a mischievous twinkle in his eye.

Now take the likes of Shane Macgowan and Lyle Lovett...those boys have faces only a Mother could love!

The 1920 haircut isn't doing Steve any favors. He looks better when he can sport his longer hair and Mr. Pink Pussy goatee.

SO... I finally was able to catch up with this series On Demand (Had to as the show was no longer On Demand after tonight)

Phenomenal with some of the best acting on TV. Im sure it has all been covered as to who the standouts are (Capone/ Dude with Fucked up face (Sorry im bad with names)/ Eli)

Plus Gretchen mol is pretty damn hot.

Perhaps this is a stupid question, and perhaps it had been answered in the prior 8 pages... but:

How Much of this show is accurate to history and how much is pure fiction?

I apologize if that is a stupid question, but I am just not as up to date on my early year Gangsters as i should be!

Thanks in advance... great fuckin show, cant wait for season 2

Edit: So i just went through the IMDB list for this and the talent int his show, it is just insane... i didnt even realize that the NY Boss dude was Michael Shuhlman (SP) the main dude from the Coen Bro's A Serious Man... i mean, that right there, dude deserves an emmy! That was a complete transformation. Plus Chalky, just great casting and then acting all around.

yeah, that's where it's at. You never pay attention to the awesome CGI work because the scenes are so rich.

I love those montages of VFX work. It's just mindblowing what can be done these days.

So just skimming through trying to avoid most spoilers, seems the reaction to Season 1 is generally very good?

I didn't get around to starting the show while it was airing but I figure when the HBO blu-rays come out, I'll give it a whirl in glorious 1080p.

Oh and when I was at TIFF back in September, the Boardwalk Empire promos were out in full force and I managed to snap a photo of one of these bad boys driving around downtown while in line at the Elgin Theatre:

That was a nice little video. They've setup some rich storylines for this season. Forsythe is in this? I hope he plays Flattop Jones!

If Boardwalk is gonna start the same time as it did last year, then there is definitely gonna be some overlap in Sept/Oct.

You know, in one thread or another I had mentioned that Boardwalk Empire had disappointed, and seeing as the second season was about to start, I figured I'd go back through and watch the series in a bit of a marathon (thank you HBO Go!).

Initially I'd watched the series week to week when it aired, and I don't know if it was a matter of expectations or just the general wait each week, but I have to say that this re-watch has really improved my opinion of the series (not that it was ever bad to begin with; was just disappointed).

I'd go as far as to say that this is my third favorite series on the air right now, right behind 1.) Breaking Bad and 2.) Game of Thrones. Which is basically to say that I'm really fucking excited for season 2, and I'm hoping that we get to see a lot more of Jack Huston as Rick Harrow, because that role/performance really stood out to me the second time around.

I feel so spoiled by TV right now. We're getting Louie, Breaking Bad, and then this? Jesus. Not to mention It's Always Sunny, Ugly Americans, Boondocks (whenever that's back on)...

Indeed. This is truly a golden age for television, folks. We should really stop and acknowledge it once in a while. Because it won't last forever.

Or maybe it will who knows.

Really excited about this news. Love Uncle Junior, he was definitely one of my favorite characters on The Sopranos.

Just think, Boardwalk Empire and Breaking Bad airing on the same night! Too much TV goodness to handle...

Very exited, season one wasn't revolutionary but was extremely solid higher level HBO programming, it can only get better from here.

But when the fuck is season 1 coming to DVD/Blu-Ray? Come on HBO, give us an inch.

I reckon! By HBO standards it should be out this month! Maybe they are waiting for Christmas or having trouble with song rights or something.

Really looking forward to this season!

Looking forward to seeing more of Stephen Graham's Al Capone (that guy is so good at what he does!) and also more of our Porcelain faced hero Mr. Harrow.
