SO... I finally was able to catch up with this series On Demand (Had to as the show was no longer On Demand after tonight)

Phenomenal with some of the best acting on TV. Im sure it has all been covered as to who the standouts are (Capone/ Dude with Fucked up face (Sorry im bad with names)/ Eli)

Plus Gretchen mol is pretty damn hot.

Perhaps this is a stupid question, and perhaps it had been answered in the prior 8 pages... but:

How Much of this show is accurate to history and how much is pure fiction?

I apologize if that is a stupid question, but I am just not as up to date on my early year Gangsters as i should be!

Edit: So i just went through the IMDB list for this and the talent int his show, it is just insane... i didnt even realize that the NY Boss dude was Michael Shuhlman (SP) the main dude from the Coen Bro's A Serious Man... i mean, that right there, dude deserves an emmy! That was a complete transformation. Plus Chalky, just great casting and then acting all around.

So just skimming through trying to avoid most spoilers, seems the reaction to Season 1 is generally very good?

I didn't get around to starting the show while it was airing but I figure when the HBO blu-rays come out, I'll give it a whirl in glorious 1080p.

You know, in one thread or another I had mentioned that Boardwalk Empire had disappointed, and seeing as the second season was about to start, I figured I'd go back through and watch the series in a bit of a marathon (thank you HBO Go!).

Initially I'd watched the series week to week when it aired, and I don't know if it was a matter of expectations or just the general wait each week, but I have to say that this re-watch has really improved my opinion of the series (not that it was ever bad to begin with; was just disappointed).

I'd go as far as to say that this is my third favorite series on the air right now, right behind 1.) Breaking Bad and 2.) Game of Thrones. Which is basically to say that I'm really fucking excited for season 2, and I'm hoping that we get to see a lot more of Jack Huston as Rick Harrow, because that role/performance really stood out to me the second time around.
