Zombie Apocalypse?!

so.. I like to keep my husband up all hours of the night discussing some of life's most important matters, and how they should be handled..
like..
what our plans would be in the event of a zombie apocalypse!!
--because.. you just need to be prepared, ya know??

so.. I'm curious..
whats YOUR zombie apocalypse survival plan???

to stress the necessity of said plan, we must first establish the severity of the apocalypse, by determining the type and danger level of the zombies...
because I like a little variety, lets say its some Shaun of the Dead zombies, mixed with Dawn on the Dead (2004) zombies!!

Go!!

oh..and I've already called dibs on living in The Mall of America, so unless you plan on getting capped..I suggest you seek shelter elsewhere.

During a zombie apocalypse you can't stay in one area for too long, so you better pick up this baby...

I find some sort of hotel, perfferably one with some sort of solar powered battery nonsense so i can have some sustainable power.

I would then get to work on blocking all the enterances in various ways that i could manage. Would be nice to fine a welder or something, heh.

Then i would start setting up ways to traverse from floor to floor but from within the hotels rooms. Like setting up a climbing rope or something to get from floor 3 to 4 if i ever need to.

Being a hotel there would be food on hand and with the sloar power hopefully the majority would not spoil.

How long this would all last or if i could pull any of it off solo i have no idea but thats my plan.

You will die because you can't stay in the same place for too long. They'll find a way to get you no matter what. You have to basically keep moving because with zombies you can run but you can't hide. Once they find out where you are they won't leave ever until they're eating your brains. The private island idea is also pretty good but you better be prepared for the lack of resources. Also you need to have a decent radio signal once the apocalypse subsides.

Well that's kind why i went the hotel route. Depending on when and how i got into the building would greatly effect my chances for survival. If it was at the onset of the outbreak then yeah i probably wouldn't last too long cause there will be a lot of ppl and bodies around. But if it were later into it and i made it there when things were more sparse then i'd have a better chance.

Also the idea of traversing from floor to floor from within the units, not using the stairs and having the stair acess completely blocked off, would be in part "keeping on the move". I would only use things like ropes or temporary structures to make it so that the zombies could not follow.

So say i'm on floor 5 and they manage to bust through the door in the stairwell. I've pilled the funature for every room but one or two in front of the door so that even when they get through its not a massive rush. i get to my room with a hole in the cieling of perhaps through a open window and climb up to the next floor.

Again wether or not i could get this all set up would be the do or die part of it. If i had ppl with me i might pull it off but solo, probably not.

True.

Holding up in a building with food & supplies sounds great but if something ever happens to the running water to the building or the sewage pipes you won't last long.

TPS's private island idea is the best route for the most part. Grow/catch your own food, boil your own water (salt water and all)....

Antarctica. That way, no zombie bite will get through that many layers of clothing. It'll be like The Thing, except no Wilford Brimley character acting like a fussy bitch and destroying the equipment.

Let's see the zombies try and over turn this fucker over! This HK can mow down zombies like fresh fuckin' grass.

Also, I'd have my own army of terminators (1 million should do the trick). They can't be eaten

Plus aerial HK's to further trim the zombie hordes down to nothing.

I COME PREPARED MUTHERFUCKERS!!!

I dunno man, if it came down to it i think i'd take Terminators over Jedi if only for the fact that Terminators can't also become zombies.

I mean just think of if a freshly zombified Jedi was still able to use the force! That's bad new my friend, bad news.

Island? Pfft. Good luck surviving a tropical storm. Not many uninhabited islands left either.

Offshore oil rig. That's where it's at.

good thing I'll have backup generators and optional solar power conversion...not to mention an electrician, a doctor, a personal chef, and Jared Leto isolated in a locked room to use at my convenience..

A lot changes based on where you are when it happens.

If I was at home I would just do my best to hole up for a week or two until the initial carnage died down. In the beginning desperate people will probably be far far more dangerous than the actual zombies would be.

You know that part of the movie when a truck driver is attacked by a zombie and he crashes through the entrance to the mall. You know it would happen in a zombie movie. Have to stay mobile.

which is why I'll devise an insidiously clever plan to construct a fence of sorts surrounding the entire mall, consisting of multiple rows of 18 wheelers sealed together with barbed wire.
bam!

If you are looking for a zombie-proof fortress, few places can compare to an offshore oil rig. Provided you have the means to locate and reach one, you'll likely find them abandoned, since during the early stages of the crisis the crews will probably have left to ensure the safety of their families. The raised platform will ensure that even a floating ghoul will never be a threat. You can greatly reduce power consumption and the chance of a fire or explosion so long as you turn off the drilling and refining equipment. The remaining fuel and natural gas should provide more than enough electricity for decades. Rigs are designed to hold crews for months or even years at a time, so there will be plenty of food, medical supplies and full amenities to recreate the comforts of home. Rigs also have desalinizers and purifiers so that fresh clean water will not be a problem for a long time. Being so remote means that you won't have to deal with swarms of desperate, possibly infected refugees. And being on the ocean means you can supplement your food rations with seafood.
They're not exactly easy to reach, though no more difficult - easier really - than finding an uninhabited island, and there's not really a better alternative out there. Electricity, water, a huge supply of food, a safe hard to reach structure, and isolation.

A well-stocked and defended island is still the best bet. It's isolated and hard to reach. Getting there would be practically impossible for zombies, even if they did somehow figure out where it was at and went for it.

It can be big enough to have a decent colony of survivors and to grow and store food, plus to keep ammo and weapons and whatnot. Ideally, you should have boats and a chopper or two just in case you needed to make a trip to the mainland. A perimeter could easliy be established and defended, using border walls/fences ect and mounted guns.

Really it's the perfect place to be if you have the resources to set it up properly.

Remember the ending to the 2004 version of Dawn Of The Dead? They end up on an island and thought they were safe. Far from it. Nope. I think the best way to go would be altitude. Seek refuge in a monastery on top of a very high mountain. Having the higher ground can work wonders against your enemy. You can roll boulders down on them. Pour boiling fiery oil etc etc. Yes, you can even throw paper bags filled with your crap in it at them. That'd work too. HAHAHA....

I'm talking about a small isolated island prepared beforehand, one without a human population to get infected. Of course most likely we'd be caught off-guard and wouldn't have one ready if it really happened but this ain't real soooo

Your idea is cool too, a mountain fortress maybe, like in the himalayas or something. I guess that might work, if you didn't freeze to death.
