What's The Most IMPORTANT Invention In The Last 1OO Years?

Below is my number no#1 of altime.

You may list up to 10.

Beat me to it with those two.

I'd add jets, space travel and satellites in there as well.

Electricity though? Edison's version of the lightbulb was in the 1870s. What the hell is going on down under there?

Well, electricity wasn't invented as much as discovered. I'm not sure who it was first, but Franklin did that kite experiment in the 1700s

Nah it's not you were wrong - it's you're now right. I was raised by electricians and grew up a stones throw from the Edison museum, so I'm just lucky on this one. I was just joking at the end there - I always like to picture God of War posting and making gifs on a computer made of wood in between knocking crocodiles in the face with a fist the size of a watermelon. So electricity being a recent invention down under really added to my fantasy. Don't take that away from me.

I fucking hate microwave ovens. It's like an invention for cooking bad tasteless food.

False. The internet, or cabley wirey goop as it was originally known, was invented by norwegian scientists as a means to stream the Beatles' Sullivan appearance back in 1848. The cabley wirey goop was the sanctioned by an early version of the WWE in an effort to profit off of their newly discovered sport, sumo arm wrestling. So discredit this submission as a total omission of recognizing the parameters of the 100 year rule - Anything from 1896 to 1996 counts, totally leaving out both the internet and the tube top.

FACTS: You just got some!

People keep mentioning antibiotics (myself included) but I think this is an interesting one, even if it might fall a bit outside the 100 year guideline (has to be close though)

Hospital cubical systems.

You ever see those old movies were all the patients are just in one room. That was the norm, and it led to so much spread of disease. At some point, a person just decided that it made more sense to isolate the patients, and that where this invention came in.

I'd say it's done more good than all the antibiotics we can throw at people. Then we fly forward a few decades and Florence Nightingale pushes for lots of reform in sanitation practices in hospitals. This is why nurses now have to put on gloves when giving you a rubdown after you slip them a $50.

Spoiler:
What a bargain!

air conditioning was invented in 1902, thus, making it 109 years ago..

additionally, toilets and plumbing have been found as far back as ancient egyptians/roman time, and possibly BC...
in 1829, the Tremont Hotel of Boston became the first hotel to have indoor plumbing.
and in 1956 a flush toilet was invented and built for Queen Elizabeth..

just sayin'

For me personally it would definitely be the computer. I've probably spent more time in front of a PC or Console than I have doing any single other activity in my life except sleeping and I'm not even sure about that one either.
