The most overrated director is ________________.

Also, I thought Superhero Movie was one of the better ones. Still awful, but definitely not the worst in my opinion. That would have to go to either Meet the Spartans or Disaster Movie.

Memento (if we're talking about mindfuck complexity)

I'm not all too familiar with Sam Mendes's work but I absolutely loved American Beauty. Also, I found Epic Movie to also be one of the better ones. Friedberg and Seltzer are doing a movie next year called The Biggest Movie of All Time 3D which is supposed to parody Avatar . . . three years after it came out. Okay . . .

My favorite up-and-coming actress is Emma Stone (if she can still be called up-and-coming)

Parody comedies are just not on the level that they used to be. Like you said, Airplane! is the greatest because they knew how to do slapstick humor back then.

My favorite up-and-coming actor is ____________.

Tom Hardy (again, not sure if he counts as up-and-coming)

I would've picked Emma Stone as well. She's gorgeous, intelligent, witty, and has great comedic timing. She's definitely the best female comedian of her generation. I might have also picked Jennifer Lawrence since I fell in love with her after seeing Winter's Bone.

The problem with today's parodies is that the jokes get in the way of the plot. There are scenes that go nowhere, solely for the purpose of squeezing in one more lame pop culture reference or movie spoof. Also, what made Airplane! so great was that the characters were playing their roles straight and the gags were occurring around them. They didn't get in the way of anything, unlike current spoof movies which have zero plot and no grounded moments.
