Need help identifying a novel

[Uncle Frank]

I read this book about a year ago but can't remember the title or author. I'm pretty sure it would be classified in the horror genre. If I remember correctly, the front cover has a picture of a white guy dressed in casual looking clothing on an urban looking street by himself. The plot centers around him being a psychic and he meets up with other psychics he knows to stop some malevolent parallel world from entering into ours. I think there's also something about a machine that is being built to open up a portal to our world for the evil spirits. One of the characters is a black woman who says cheri a lot and is from louisiana. The beginning involves inmates escaping from a prison after there is a masscare initiated by evil spirits. Pretty sure it was published in the last 5-10 years.
