Wolf-Whistling?

Wolf-whistling or finger whistling is a type of whistling in which fingers are inserted in the mouth to produce a louder and more penetrating tone. A wolf-whistle is a two-toned sound (like 'whip-woo') commonly made using the above technique to show approval of something or someone (originally a person thought to be sexually attractive). About this sound fingerless wolf whistle (help·info)

The wolf-whistle originates from the navy General Call made with a boatswain's pipe. The general call is made on a ship to get the attention of all hands for an announcement. Sailors in harbour would whistle the general call when seeing a pretty woman to draw fellow sailors' attention to her. It was eventually picked up by passers-by, not knowing the real meaning of the whistle, and passed on. Over time, the precise tones of the general call were flattened somewhat into the wolf whistle common today.

Now, to the point of my topic. Who can wolf-whistle? I have never ever been able to do it. I always wanted to after a great movie ended at the cinema. Or a really hot girl walks by. You get my drift. Case in point--who can do it, and who can't?

I've always wanted to do the fingerless wolf whistle. I think Its something to do with folding the tongue. I don't know, and i've never been able to.

There was a funny scene in Best in Show, where the man in the audience tries and fails at it.

I can whistle like a champ. But I haven't tried wolf-whistling that much.

Fun story, I used to never be able to whistle the proper way and just cheated by inhaling.

Even doing a plain old whistle where you purse your lips can be hard for some people or little children

All that comes out is air

Yes spit can come flying out of ones mouth when trying to wolf whistle when one has not had much practice

Maybe freinds need to stand back while trying this out

i can kind of fingerless whistle if i bend my tongue in just the right way. There's not much power behind it though. My dad can do the finger whistle pretty load, twas how i knew dinner was ready a block away.

I can do it two handed or one handed.
I've found that the one handed method is warmly recieved by most supermodels and Avon saleswomen. While the two handed method only seems to draw smiles from cocktail waitresses, methadone patients, and eskimoes. I can not do it fingerless however, so my research may forever go unfinished. Such a shame.
