The Dawn of the Dead 2006 version's opening scene instantly came to mind. I agree with athf1980, the Scream opening scene was fantastic as well.

Also most of the SAW opening death/trap scenes were sweet too.

Saw III's opening pissed me off.

Spoiler:
When they kill off Dina Meyers character. What a waste of a good character. Although that's nothing compared to how much they fuck up Donnie Wahlberg's character in the wretched 4th installment.

Yeah, I don't know....

Spoiler:
I figured they'd kill off female cop Dina's character at some point anyway. Plus it WAS a pretty cool death! And while Wahlberg's death was hilariously awesome, it should NOT have been his character that gets offed that way! Yes, I agree.... Part 4 is the absolute worst of the SAW Series for sure. Still love 'em all though!

As bad as Saw IV is it's almost a masterpiece compared to how truly awful the final Saw movie is.

Spoiler:
As far as I'm concerned the franchise went to shit after John Kramer's death and Hoffman took over as the new Jigsaw. It's kind of a shame because I've actually met Costas Mandylor and he's actually a very cool guy. But his character sucked and his acting wasn't that great either to be honest.

Hm.... Will haveta agree to disagree with ya Ilove.... I'm a big fan of the SAW franchise, and I thought part 7 wrapped it all up perfectly.

I've been reading they're talking about part 8. I don't think it's needed at all.... BUT I'd be lying if I told ya that I wouldn't be in the theatre, should it be released.

HALLOWEEN b/c of the combination of the supercool opening credits, Carpenter's unbeatable score & Michael's brutal murder of Judith!

Mostly I'm just a fan of the Scream and Freddy Krueger flicks. The truth is that while I do think Craven is a talented director, his resume is actually quite uneven. He's done several good movies but he's also been responsible for some real clunkers too.

Yeah I agree with that. I love the Scream series and Freddy is one of the most charismatic players ever.

I always thought the best one was Friday the 13th Part IV the Final Chapter, where they show the montage of Jason kills. Very, very cool.

The car crash from the POV of the rainy windshield at the start of Audrey Rose(1977) gets my vote.

I'd add Scream 4 to the list. It was a great reintroduction to the irony of the series and far more memorable than the third film's opening, which was kind of bland when compared to the other opening sequences in the series.
