This Is Shia LaBeouf's Dad? Holy Shit!

Quote:
Shia LaBeouf has quite the history of getting into physical altercations. The 25-year-old Indiana Jones, Jr. and star of the Transformers film franchise has made headlines for getting in a bar brawl, a recent street fight, tossing hot coffee on a paparazzo, and even trying to stab a neighbor when he was 19. As it turns out, his violent streak may be hereditary! It was recently discovered that Shia’s dad, Jeffrey Craig LaBeouf, was convicted of attempted rape and spent time in jail for the offense from 1981-1983.

The information is posted on Megan’s Law, a national registry of sex offenders. Reporters for Star magazine attempted to find out more about the arrest, but they discovered that “all official police documentation associated with the assault has inexplicably vanished.”

“The Megan’s Law website is 100% accurate,” Nick Pacilio, a spokesman for the Attorney General’s office, tells Radar Online. “If a person is on that website, they are a sex offender.”

Radar also uncovered some more of Jeffery’s unlawful activities from this time period, which is before Shia was born it should be noted. “In the same year as his rape offense, Jeffrey was also charged with kidnapping and assault with a deadly weapon, but the legal outcomes of these charges are unknown.”

Shia has talked about his rather eccentric father numerous times over the years, and judging from his stories it should come as no surprise that Jeffrey would have attacked a woman.

From CelebStoner.com in 2008:

LaBeouf says his father turned him on to pot when he was just 10 years old: “My dad did a lot of things. He was a clown. He sold snow cones. He did stand-up comedy. He even went on tour with the Doobie Brothers as their opening act. He was a Vietnam vet, an artist, an explorer of life – just an adventurer.”

For his role in Bobby, in which he drops acid, Shia consulted Jeff: “My dad was a big Tim Leary fan in his day, and he had tripped on acid. So my father was very descriptive about the high and what happens, and he broke down the timeline for me.”

Jeff LaBeouf ultimately had a major drug problem: “My dad was a drug dealer for most of my life. I’m sure there was a time when drugs were really fun for my dad, but after you have a kid, the party is over. I got to grow up in a situation where drugs were demonic. To watch your dad going through heroin withdrawals is something that would stray you from doing any of that. He also grew up in a different time… where literally they’d line up coke lines on the Craft services tables for grips.”

And before that Shia LaBeouf gave some details about his childhood to PopMatters:

LaBeouf was raised in the tough Echo Park section of Los Angeles. His mother was a dancer who was forced to give up the ballet because of injuries and later became a visual artist. His father, whom his son describes as a “Ragin’ Cajun,” was a former circus clown who drifted from one job to another.

“He was tough as nails and a different breed of man,” LaBeouf said of his father, who now lives in his son’s garage, where he has renewed an interest in painting.

“When you’re 10 years old and watch your father going through heroin withdrawals, you grow up real fast. You become the parent in the relationship. But I must give him credit because he always told me that he didn’t want me to be like him.”

However, his father not only shared his drugs with his 10-year-old son, but got him started on an early cigarette habit.

“I still have that one bad habit,” LaBeouf said, holding up an ever-present cigarette, “but my childhood never hindered me, and it never crippled me. They were pretty weird people, but they loved me and I loved them.”

Wow! And Shia didn’t even mention that when his dad isn’t living in his garage he lives in a warm weather teepee in Montana! (Seriously.) IS anyone else out there beginning to think Jeffrey Craig LaBeouf may be the long lost brother of Randy Quaid?

That's not really scandalous.

But I'm confused why he spent two years in jail convicted for 'attempted rape'. I must be behind on my Law and Order. Two years is a long time for that conviction, isn't it? I don't know the details of the case, obviously, but seeing a convicted rape rap on a heroin junkie isn't mindblowing. I wouldn't be surprised if most of his years in prison were for his dealing, slid underneath his attempted rape.

Shia is a cool guy. Especially considering how weird his parents seem to be. He turned out well.

I'm picturing him in an old folks home, sitting in a wheelchair, banging incessantly on a desk bell attached to the armrest.
