I have seen more films of his, but it's been a while since I've seen them so I can't comment on them.

Tricky one here. There seems to be two schools of thought on LDC, either (depending on who you ask) he is a brilliant actor or a pretty boy with all the talent of a block of wood. There seems to be no other actor who has inspired such controversy since Keanu Reeves.

I fall in the middle myself, I think he can act, but he often turns in lazy performances. Only time will tell on this one.

So, having said that I think his best is yet to come. His best so far, I think is "This Boys Life" he was very good in that.

WHAT??! There was a movie about Arthur Rimbaud, and Leonardo DiCaprio played him.....hmmmm....I wonder who played Paul Verlaine.....

I'm actually a huge fan Of Leonardo DiCaprio's. Everything that I've seen by him was great, and he usually takes great parts (we're all going to forget that he was in Critters III...and I didn't like Basketball Diaries either , so, I'll forget that it was made.)

It'll be interesting to see what his big comeback role will be.

Personally, his Performance in Marvin's room was his best. hmmm....he was good in This Boy's Life ....what's with him playing really good writers? I dont get it..

ROMERO, the offensive-looking English actor David Thewlis played Paul Verlaine. He sports the ugliest mug this side of the pub scenes in THE WICKER MAN and AN AMERICAN WEREWOLF IN LONDON.

I really don't care for Leo but I think his best performances were in What's Eating Gilbert Grape, Romeo and Juliet , Titanic and This Boy's Life. Hes got some talent under that stereotypical face, although I hate to admit it.

I am. I really dislike actors who are famous based soley on their looks. He could have the acting strength of a rock and still be pretty popular because he is "such a hottie". That pisses me off that movie stars can get off without any talent if the look good... (Brittney Spears, JLo, Ben Affleck to some extent, etc.)

I don't see how this applies to Leo. How can you watch THIS BOY'S LIFE or WHAT'S EATING GILBERT GRAPE and think he's without talent?

For anyone who thinks he's a bad actor...

Your minds will most likely change in December after seeing Gangs of New York.

Trust Me, Marty wouldn't pick a bad actor to star in the film he's been waiting to make forever.

This is a great bump up! I think Leo Dicaprio has really provin himself as an actor over the years, and has shaken off the pretty boy image. Not that i think his preformances were in any way bad in this original thread, big fan of the majority of his movies, pre 2002 and post 2002, but i think peoples opinions might have changed since this original thread.
A fine actor if you ask me.

I've always been a Leo hater. I hate everything about him and still think his acting talents are little lacking.

I tolerated him in The Departed, and that's the most I've "liked" him.

His best performance was in The Aviator. He was amazing in that. Should have won the oscar IMO.

He's also great in Titanic, Catch Me If You Can and The Departed.

My favorite movies of his are The Aviator, Titanic, Gangs of New York, Catch Me if You Can and The Departed in that order.
