I always thought these were the worst award. Total anti pop culture. I net the guy in LA who runs this thing many years ago. He totally looks like her was picked last at kickball and has to pay for sex. I could understand these awards if they were done by people trying to be funny and not just mean.

Worst Pic
Bucky Larson

Worst actor

Yeah. I also liked Drive Angry. I'm from the Federal Bureau of STFU!

Really loved Drive Angry also so i don't think it deserves the razzie noms but Adam Sandler definitely does. I'm still hoping my theory is true, that this is an evil doppelganger of Adam Sandler and the real Adam is in a dungeon waiting to be rescued some day. Don't worry, we'll find you eventually Adam, we swear!

Well I liked Just Go With It, a lot. But Jack and Jill was awful. In fact, it is the worst movie of 2011 that I have seen.

Surprised Priest didn't get anything. That movie was much worse IMO than a lot of the movies that were nominated (Breaking Dawn Part 1, Transformers: Dark of the Moon, etc).

And the Sarah Palin nomination: just another lame attempt at the Razzies trying to be funny. They aren't.

Same here. You have to wonder at times how they come to a decision on these awards.

I like how two of the nominees for Worst Actress are men (same with Supporting Actress), and then Sarah Palin - who was the topic of a documentary.

Today, on April Fools’ Day at 10:30 (EST), the winners of the 32nd Annual Golden Raspberry Awards (“The Razzies”) were revealed, celebrating the worst films in 2011. Going into the event, Adam Sandler was a strong favorite with a historic amount of nominations for his work on three different films, and he was justly awarded accordingly. Those that had a hand in making Transformers: Dark of the Moon, The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn Part 1 and New Years Eve should be sending Sandler a considerable amount of Thank-you bouquets.

It was February 25th in D.C. when the nominations for the Razzie Awards were revealed, and Adam Sandler had been given his just deserts with an astonishing 11 nominations for his work in the year 2011. The next evening, the entire city was glued to their perspective couches to watch Billy Crystal’s return as host of the Academy Awards. The show was fine, if not a little dated. We saw a montage of virtuoso actors and award-winning filmmakers speaking candidly in interviews about the magic of the movies. And then, something inexplicable happened. Adam Sandler of all people, who was for some reason dressed as if he were about to attend a track meet, began to speak. He continued in the tradition of the previous speakers like Tom Hanks and stated that films could tell a deep and universal truth, and then quipped “I’m eventually trying to one day tell the truth.” The audience laughed, the montage ended, and all those in the city who love good movies died a little inside.

Sandler has been dodging Razzie’s radar for years. He has garnered 16 previous nominations (counting producer credits) since 1997, but has won only once (for Worst Actor in 1999’s Big Daddy). Sandler’s fame and wealth is an anathema to most of the world (particularly film critics), but enough people love his movies so much that he still makes money hand over fist. Several websites have estimated his net worth at over $300 million, he’s won the People’s Choice Awards for favorite comedic actor the last two years in a row, and last year he received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. This must be a symptom of what’s wrong with the world. Like a sign of an oncoming apocalypse.

Some complain that the Razzie’s nominations can be a bit annoying and obvious. Fair enough. The Awards are certainly all in good fun, but they are also necessary. With all the competing ideologies and ostensible cronyism that overtakes award shows like the Oscars, the Razzies are a much-needed kick in the groin to an over-serious and self-righteous film industry. And yes, Jean-Luc Godard’s Film Socialisme (2010) may be deserving of a Razzie in many critics eyes, but that film didn’t see a wide release. It is always the drek pawned off on the public by the major studios that does the most damage. The Razzies shouldn’t be berated for being predictable. If anything, there should be more award shows like it.

The Razzies are chosen by the members of The Golden Raspberry Award Foundation (of which there are about 650), which is made up of critics, movie industry professionals, and anyone who can pay the small yearly fee to become a member. This year, the Foundation decided to let the public get in on the act, allowing users at Rottentomatoes.com to vote for who should win for Worst On-Screen Couple. Sandler had two out of the five horses in that race, and the public choose wisely. The most notable celebrity to narrowly escaped the indignation of Razzie was Sarah Palin, who would have been the only political figure besides George W. Bush to win the not-so-coveted trophy.

Since its inception, the Razzies have been lorded over by co-founder John Wilson, author of bad movie books like “The Official Razzie Movie Guide: Enjoying the Best of Hollywood’s Worst.” Hopefully Wilson is still shopping around the idea of a televised Razzie special to the networks. In a press release, the Golden Raspberry Foundation had this to say:

Sandler started the night with a record 11 nominations for himself as an actor, writer, producer and "actress". And, although not all 10 RAZZIES® awarded to JACK & JILL were for Sandler personally, the results suggest that Sandler may want to wait awhile before ever donning drag again. In addition to Worst Picture, JILL "won" for Sandler as both Worst Actor and Worst Actress (another unprecedented feat) as well as Al Pacino (playing himself and wildly wooing the female Sandler character) as Worst Supporting Actor, Sandler's best bud David Spade (also appearing in drag in a cameo role as a buxom bully named "Monica") as Worst Supporting Actress, longtime Sandler collaborator Dennis Dugan, jointly awarded Worst Director for both JACK & JILL and one of three other RAZZIE® nominated 2011 titles from Happy Madison Productions, JUST GO WITH IT.

Those who didn’t receive an award this year aren’t out of the woods yet, with planned sequels to Transformers: Dark of the Moon, The Hangover Part II and The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn Part 1 already in development, there’s always next year to give those who just scraped by their deserved “honors.” And so, without further ado, here are the winners of the 32nd Annual Razzie Awards for 2011’s worst films. The winners have been highlighted in bold:

LMAO at the Jack and Jill hate. I agree that the movie is awful and that it is the worst movie of 2011, but JESUS CHRIST! Gimme a break! Other movies deserve their due too!

But you know, I had forgotten that they announced the "winners" today and quite frankly don't even care. The razzies has long since become irrelevant.

Yeah, the Razzies seemed more relevant when they were announced just before (or was it just after?) the Oscars.

Either way, congrats to Jack & Jill.
