What is the deal with DVD prices?

I would think that they would go down with Blu Ray's rise in popularity, but after looking at Amazon:

Kickboxer (JCVD)
DVD - $18
Blu Ray - $7

Titanic (I know, I know)
DVD - $50 (was about $100)
Blu Ray - No price currently listed, but I think I saw $23 for the 3-D release.

Akira Kurosawa's Dreams

DVD - $19 or $34 (depending on which edition
Blu Ray - none listed

Now some are from third-parties (not referring to the "used" section, but to someone who partners with Amazon). But those prices are crazy.

The only thing I can guess is, and after looking at at DVDAF, every title listed there is out of print. So my guess is it's an attempt to cash in on that.

If you look them up on Ebay, they have some crazy prices for those same titles as well.
