Last week it came out that the new Rayman game will be delayed and no longer be Wii U exclusive.

That's a huge blow to Nintendo. I played the demo at Best Buy a few months back and thought it was fantastic. Loved the integration of the gamepad. Was really looking forward to that one.

Yeah Nintendo is scramling.

They had a big announcment the other day but unforuntately it was for just another Mario game for the 3DS. Granted its another installment in the cool Mario & Luigi team up RPG's which hasn't been as bastardized as all the other incarnations of Mario.

But in the end its just another Mario game so the idea that this will turn anything around is silly. Nintendo needs to get their shit together and quick.

Rumor: GameStop discontinuing Wii U Basic after June 18

Some GameStop locations will no longer sell the 8GB Wii U Basic console after June 18, according to a Kotaku source. CNET also says it's confirmed this with several GameStop stores. We've contacted both Nintendo and GameStop for comment.

Other retailers have held sales for the Wii U Basic over the last few months, though it's hardly indicative of retailers looking to get rid of stock ahead of a recall. In its year-end financial report, Nintendo revealed Wii U shipments fell below the company forecast. As of March 31, 3.75 million Wii U consoles have been sold worldwide.

Best Buy Taking Part in Wii U Basic Returns

At least the Wii U Basic sets from GameStop won't be lonely...

Best Buy is joining GameStop in returning their new stock of Wii U Basic units.

A member of our community recently sent in an internal Best Buy document stating that the store "should pull all new in box units and send them back," under a section saying that they are "to be returned via Sendback."

Best Buy will be sending back stock on June 10 - 11, a week ahead of GameStop. According to Nintendo, the returns are part of a stock "rebalance."

The Best Buy notice further notes that there should be "more Wii U Deluxe units arriving in the coming weeks."

and is rated “E” (Everyone) by the ESRB.
  • Angry Birds™ Star Wars® – Join the Angry Birds in a galaxy far, far away... where a
group of desperate rebel birds face off against a galactic menace: the Empire’s evil
Pigtroopers! The game evolves the core game design and hilarious tone of previous entries
in the series with new characters, challenges, and environments that pay homage to the
iconic hallmarks of the Star Wars™ universe. This title adds twenty never-before-seen
exclusive levels – on top of the already two-hundred from the original Angry Birds™ Star
Wars® – and, for the first time ever, two new multiplayer modes. Play alongside your friend
in cooperative mode to achieve a combined high score, or compete against family and
friends (up to four players) in competitive mode. In addition, the game delivers online
leaderboards, beautiful, high-definition graphics, and unlockable bonus levels, items and
content. The game is scheduled to release on October 29, and is not yet rated by the
    ESRB.
  • SpongeBob SquarePants™: Plankton’s Robotic Revenge – In this original story, Bikini
Bottom’s very own Sheldon J. Plankton and his new legion of evil robots have destroyed the
Krusty Krab and stolen the safe that houses the famous Krabby Patty formula. Join
SpongeBob and his friends to locate the hidden keys for the safe before the secret is lost
forever! Blending platforming, action, and puzzle-solving, SpongeBob SquarePants™:
Plankton's Robotic Revenge features references and humor from the hit Nickelodeon TV
animated series, as well as the voices from the show’s cast. Fans and gamers of all ages
and skill levels can get together with co-op gameplay action, creating an experience that’s
fun for everyone. Players can choose between their favorite Bikini Bottom characters
including SpongeBob, Patrick, Squidward, Sandy, or Mr. Krabs as they scour the town
hunting for hidden keys and collectibles. The game is expected to release this fall and is
rated “E10+” (Everyone 10 and older—Cartoon Violence) by the ESRB.
  • Wipeout™ Create & Crash – Based on ABC’s popular TV game show, the game gives
players greater control as they test their agility, endurance and abilities. For the first time
ever, players can design, play, and share their very own chaotic courses with the all new
Course Creator. Choose from easy, medium or hard obstacles and try to beat your course,
and then share the unique code with your friends and family! In addition, compete as either
fan-favorite or all-new characters in over-the-top new courses like Prehistoric Panic and
Wipeouts Ahoy with all new themed obstacles. You can also challenge your friends to reign
supreme in side-by-side or team local multiplayer! The game is expected to be released this
fall and is rated “E10+” (Everyone 10 and older – Comic Mischief and Mild Cartoon Violence)
    by the ESRB.

Sad thing is, I really like this system. Was playing Arkham City on it, and loved the integration of the Gamepad. But this was one of the worst marketing campaigns ever, the game list is so underwhelming, and without a major franchise release (I don't count New Super Mario Bros.) at launch, it's just a failure.

I loved it at the time, but like most RPGs of that era (aside from Chrono Trigger and FFVI), it's certainly lost some of its magic.

That said, I'd jump all over another entry in the franchise. The Wii U needs some more exclusive games, and although Earthbound is not a huge franchise name, it's something and will, at the very least, generate a ton of interest in Japan. That alone should make it worth pursuing.

Wii Fit U = November 1 as download, December 13 as package.. and MORE [PRESS RELEASE]

NINTENDO GIVES CONSUMERS A CHANCE TO GET FIT FOR FREE WITH WII FIT U

Wii Sports Club Delivers a New Wii Sports Experience on Wii U

REDMOND, Wash., Sept. 18, 2013 – Nintendo is offering Wii U owners a chance to download a full version of Wii Fit U for free. Starting Nov. 1, Wii U owners can download a complete version of the game and get a head start on their New Year's fitness goals by trying out all the activities found in the game for a full month – at no cost. All users need is a Wii Balance Board and a Wii U system with a broadband Internet connection. Consumers can keep their trial copies of Wii Fit U at no additional cost by simply purchasing and syncing a Fit Meter to the game. Nintendo announced the special offer along with a number of items related to active gaming during a Nintendo Direct video. To view the Nintendo Direct in its entirety, visit http://www.nintendo.com/nintendo-direct.

"Wii Fit U is all about 'fun fitness' for everyone in the family," said Reggie Fils-Aime, Nintendo of America's president and COO. "With this special offer, Nintendo is making it easier than ever for families to get active and stay active, making now the perfect time to upgrade to Wii U. This is another example of the kind of value and variety that only Nintendo can offer."

The full Wii Fit U software will be downloadable from the Nintendo eShop between Nov. 1, 2013, and Jan. 31, 2014, and will work for a month from the day it is first played. During the trial period, users can stay active with 77 different activities, including 19 new training activities, many of which take advantage of the Wii U GamePad controller. Users who want to continue using Wii Fit U beyond the trial period can purchase a Fit Meter accessory and sync it to their Wii Fit U software at any time. This will allow them to continue playing Wii Fit U forever. The Fit Meter will be available Nov. 1 in black/silver at a suggested retail price of $19.99.

The Fit Meter accessory is much more than a pedometer – it's an activity meter that tracks a wide range of everyday activity. It records not only the number of steps a user has taken, but it also takes into account the intensity of those steps – for example, was the user running or walking? The Fit Meter also measures altitude, so wearers get credit for climbing stairs or walking uphill. All of these data points combined provide users with an accurate overview of their day's activity, including a detailed calculation of the number of calories they burned. This data can then be transferred wirelessly to Wii Fit U via the Wii U GamePad with just a touch of a button. The Fit Meter transforms users' everyday lives into workouts, encouraging them to get active and stay active.

Wii Fit U features all of the strength training, yoga and fun fitness games that have made the Wii Fit series so popular. Plus, there are new games that combine the Wii Balance Board and Wii U GamePad, including new dance routines such as hip-hop and salsa that work out various parts of the body through simple dance moves. The game also gives players more ways to create their own custom workout routines. Users can also create or join a Miiverse Gym Community to share tips and support with other Wii Fit U users who have similar goals. Or people can create closed communities made up exclusively of their friends. The communities will help people stay motivated by giving them a venue to discuss their fitness progress with others.

For those who choose not to participate in this special offer, Wii Fit U launches both as a packaged game on Dec. 13, 2013, and as a full game download in the Nintendo eShop on Feb. 1, 2014.

Some other announcements today included:

Wii Sports Club
Quote:
The five beloved sports from the original Wii Sports – bowling, tennis, baseball, boxing and golf – are making a dramatic and competitive return on Wii U. The games are being released individually as downloads in the Nintendo eShop featuring HD graphics, enhanced controls via Wii MotionPlus technology, as well as a much-requested online multiplayer versus mode, so users with broadband Internet access can face off against competitors online. And that's where the "Club" part of Wii Sports Club comes into play. Players will be registered to state or regional clubs and will be able to chat with one another via Miiverse during matches. People will be able to play casually against members of their own club, or take on members of rival clubs to increase their club rankings.

Tennis and Bowling will be the first two sports available in the Nintendo eShop on Nov. 7, with Boxing, Baseball and Golf scheduled to launch in the months ahead. Wii U owners who download Wii Sports Club will get a trial pass that will let them play any available games for a 24-hour period from when the Wii Sports Club game is started. Once the trial period ends, players can purchase a Day Pass for $1.99 in the Nintendo eShop to play all available sports for a 24-hour period, or can buy permanent access to individual sports for $9.99 each.

Just read an article on Gamespot about the Wii Sports Club garbage.

Nintendo really think that ppl are going to pay upwards of $50 for an 'HD' remake of a game that they probably own already and got for free?

Fuck you Nintendo. Eat shit and die. You have proven you are completely out of touch with the current gaming world and now you are scrambling to catch up and failing horribly.

FUCK YOU.

Press Release: WII FIT U on January 10th

RING IN A HEALTHY AND ACTIVE NEW YEAR WITH

FOR

ON FRIDAY JANUARY 10TH,2014

Nintendo Teams up with Celebrity Trainer Kathy Kaehler for the "Wii Fit U Challenge"

REDMOND, Wash., Jan. 2, 2014 – It's a new year. Why not start it off with a new "U"? On
Jan. 10, the retail version of Wii Fit U for Wii U hits stores, just in time to help people get
started on their New Year's resolutions to be more active and get fit. But Wii Fit U doesn't
require heavy equipment or expensive gym memberships. With Wii Fit U, users can get
active by navigating a luge course, spraying a water hose, bouncing on a giant trampoline
and even grabbing the new Fit Meter to continue their workouts on the go. Fitness doesn't
get any more fun than this.

"Wii Fit U makes fitness fun. It's as simple as that," said Scott Moffitt, Nintendo of America's
executive vice president of Sales & Marketing. "Wii Fit U is a great option for busy moms
and families who want to stay active in the comfort of their own homes – which is perfect
during the cold winter months."

Wii Fit U allows users to discover fun new ways to get up and get moving using their Wii U
console and Wii Balance Board accessory. The game features some of the best activities
from the original Wii Fit and Wii Fit Plus games, as well as new activities that incorporate
the Wii U GamePad controller. Wii Fit U bundles also come packaged with a new activity meter
called the Fit Meter, which is designed to sync up with the game and track daily routines.
People can carry the Fit Meter with them anywhere they go, and then easily sync it to their
Wii Fit U profiles to track daily activities like steps taken and calories burned. If
the user doesn't reach the calorie target, the game will propose a variety of Wii Fit U
exercises to help bridge the gap. All members of the family can even own their own Fit
Meter, allowing them to create their own profiles and compare their fitness progress and
activities with each other. (The Fit Meter can be purchased separately at a suggested
retail price of $19.99.)

In addition to the retail launch of the game on Jan. 10, Nintendo is partnering with celebrity
trainer and fitness expert Kathy Kaehler, who has trained celebs such as Jennifer Aniston,
Drew Barrymore, Kim Kardashian, Cindy Crawford and Julia Roberts. Kaehler's Wii Fit U
Challenge encourages Wii U owners to incorporate Wii Fit U into their busy lives and to
continue to stay active throughout the entire year.

"As a mom of three kids, I know how difficult it can sometimes be to find time to go to the
gym," Kaehler said. "The exercises in Wii Fit U are designed to accommodate busy schedules
and can be accomplished throughout the day. Plus, it's a fun activity for the entire family."

Wii Fit U is the most customizable and shareable game in the series. Users can create their
own personalized workouts or select from multiple recommended workouts based on their
fitness goals. These workouts can even be tracked using Miiverse (broadband Internet
access is required). Members of these Miiverse gym communities can view their favorite
workouts, as well as track popular activities and total community calories burned.

Wii Fit U requires the use of the Wii Balance Board accessory. A bundle that includes the Wii
Fit U game, a Wii Balance Board accessory and the Fit Meter accessory will be available in
stores at a suggested retail price of $89.99. For those who already own a Wii Balance
Board, an additional bundle with the Wii Fit U game and Fit Meter will be available in stores
at a suggested retail price of $49.99. In addition, a one-month free trial of the full game
experience can also be downloaded in the Nintendo eShop until Jan. 31. Users that
download this free trial can keep the full game permanently by purchasing and syncing a Fit
Meter.

Nintendo resurrects its best controller for Super Smash Bros. on the Wii U

Not only is one of Nintendo's most loved games soon to arrive on the Wii U, but you'll also be able to play it using one of the game
company's best controllers. An officially licensed adapter will let you plug in up to four GameCube controllers when playing the next-gen
iteration of Super Smash Bros. As Joystiq points out, we don't know if there'll also be support for Nintendo's wireless Wavebird via the same
piece of kit, or whether GameCube controllers will work with other Wii U titles. Neither do we have any pricing. What we do know is that the
adapter will be shown off during a tournament at E3 on June 10th (check out the video below at 2:20). It''ll then presumably go on sale in
time for the launch of Super Smash Bros. on the Wii U this winter -- and, from Nintendo's perspective, it surely can't come soon enough.

PR: Wii Sports Club (Retail Version) arrives on 7/25

Fore! Love! Strike! Home run! TKO! All five of these phrases are going to echo through the
homes of Wii U owners everywhere when the five-sports-in-one packaged version of Wii
Sports Club hits stores on July 25 at a suggested retail price of $39.99. With Wii Sports
Club, the millions of people who fell in love with Wii Sports can now hop off their couches
and get active with new versions of the five original classic sports – Tennis, Bowling, Golf,
Baseball and Boxing – enhanced with online multiplayer and optimized for play with the Wii U
GamePad controller.

Wii Sports Club feels like a new experience, with the addition of crisp high-definition
graphics and Wii MotionPlus technology, as well as creative uses of the Wii U GamePad. For
example, in Wii Sports Club – Baseball, the pitcher aims a fastball, change-up or curveball
by moving the GamePad around in real space and pressing a button to throw. If the ball
gets hit in the air, the player holds the GamePad to track and catch the fly ball – just like
they would with a baseball glove! In Wii Sports Club – Golf, players place the GamePad on
the floor. The ball will appear on the GamePad controller’s screen and then “fly” to the TV
screen when players take their golf swing using the Wii Remote Plus controller.

Using the game’s new online multiplayer mode, players no longer have to wait for a reunion
or holiday gathering to play with friends and family members who live far away. Gamers from
all over the country who own the game and have a broadband Internet connection can play
Wii Sports Club together. Players also can join a club to represent their regions and build
online communities with fellow club members by sending tips, pep talks and other messages
via Miiverse.

There are so many new features in Wii Sports Club that players will feel like they are playing
the game for the first time. The added GamePad features elicit the same “You have to try
this!” reactions generated after playing the original Wii Sports.

Digital versions of all five Wii Sports Club games will also be available in the Nintendo eShop
on Wii U starting at 6 p.m. PT on June 26. For more information about the game, visit
http://wiisportsclub.nintendo.com.

possible: SMASH BROS. WII U date leaked??

A leaked image of a reservation card from retailer Fred Meyer may have revealed the release date
for the Wii U version of Super Smash Bros.

The image, posted by Twitter user BluesDriveBuster,
depicts a reservation card with a November 21 release date printed in large text.
Check it out below.

It should be noted that no official release date for Super Smash Bros. on Wii U has been announced
by Nintendo, and the card does say that the displayed date is subject to change.

There is some merit, to it, however; Nintendo's original release window for the game was Winter 2014,
and it does coincide with Nintendo's knack for releasing games on a Friday. IGN has reached out to Nintendo
and will update this story with any additional information.

-Ign/twitter

If date is correct. we will also see the launch of Nintendo's Amebo. Which
is said to arrive day and date with Smash Bros. for the Wii u.
