The Expendables II

Lionsgate announced today an August 17, 2012 release date for The Expendables 2. The film currently has the slot to itself, with G.I. Joe 2 scheduled to hit theaters a week earlier on August 10.

Sylvester Stallone's first film earned an impressive $274.5 million worldwide on a budget of $80 million.

Okay Stallone, now let's not try too hard like the last movie, shall we? Just because you got 80s action stars doing manly things without some good camaraderie and half the cast not showing up until the last half, a throwback to the old-school action films does not make.

Also, let's keep this hard R this time? Not a badly done CGI blood mess like the first one.

That couldn't be helped. The movie was originally going to be PG-13, so they had to unfortunately go back and make everything look more bloody with CGI. This time, they won't have that problem.

A nice ol' bumping of the thread wouldn't have been the end of the world.

Yeah, hopefully JCVD gets the role of a top villain or such, i've always found him to be an underrated bad guy. He did a movie called Replicant in which he plays two characters, one is a serial killer and he really impressed with me doing the villainous stuff.

As long as they stay away from Hulk Hogan (which was a rumor at one point). If anything, get Piper.

I liked the first one. It wasn't the be all end all of action films it was hyped as, but it was pretty fun.

I'll definitely be checking the sequel out just for the cast.

Bring it on.

Just hope for a stable camera this time around.

It would have been cool if they got Christopher Lambert (Highlander, Hunted) for this.

The inclusion of Bruce and Arnold, and as long as their parts aren't just cameos this time around, make the movie much more interesting.

Yeah, Arnold and Bruce's cameo was, as far as I'm concerned, the best scene from the first film. Loved the chemistry between them and Stallone. It was a great scene and proved that despite not being on screen since 2003's Terminator 3, Schwarzenegger is still a force to be reckoned with on screen. So with both Bruce and Arnold back in much bigger roles, I'm definitely looking forward to this movie even though the first film wasn't all that great. It was okay but not anything special.

Meh. The first one was incredibly forgettable and mediocre. And anyone who thinks they would actually pay the salaries for Sly, Arnold and Bruce to all star in the movie is kidding themselves.

We might get a few more scenes with them, but I seriously doubt it will have all 3 for more than a day of shooting.

Most reports are saying Willis is the main villain with Van Damme as his second in command/sidekick. I can dig it!

Chuck Norris is the best!

I loved the first Expendables movie, so I was already looking forward to this one a lot. Now, I CAN NOT WAIT since they announced that my all-time favorite action star, Chuck Norris has been cast!!

I've heard from Expendables Premiere that they're also adding Tom Sizemore to the cast.

Tom himself was a little loose-lipped in this one single interview:

Chuck Norris and Jean-Claude Van Damme Confirmed for "The Expendables 2"

It was recently confirmed that Arnold Schwarzenegger and Bruce Willis will be returning for "The Expendables" sequel with bigger roles than in the original film.

And now, Sylvester Stallone has revealed that both Chuck Norris and Jean-Claude Van Damme are already on board as well. "We'll have a big showdown between me and Van Damme, which has been anticipated for a long time," said Stallone. "We've got Chuck Norris and I think Nic Cage."

He added that the goal is to reunite Cage with John Travolta, but Stallone is also hoping to help out actors who were once well known, but have since faded away. "I like using people that had a moment and then maybe have fallen on some hard times and give them another shot," he explained. "So we're always looking for actors like Michael Biehn and Michael Pare."

HUGE Michael Pare fan here, always thought he should've made it a lot bigger in the business...he was so awesome in Streets of Fire.

The fact that all these actors are being thrown around with possible roles leads me to believe that it's going to be one weak ass script. I'm optimistic since the actors confirmed so far are an improvement over the first movies, but without at least a little substance to the story and characters, I'm not going to get too excited.

I for one will be quite looking forward to this film and hope to enjoy a viewing with a cigar and cognac in hand. As long as the script makes sense and there is a lot of violence and action I will be happy...presumably Willis as Mr CIA will get the guys to do something without filling them in completely then..hmm violence?

Me and a friend were having a deep philosophical discussion the other day...

Which would win: Van Damme's splits or Chuck Norris' roundhouse kick?

Hopefully this will answer the question.

Now this is a trailer to be rated as 'awesome looking', didn't like the first but this is looking better merely down to the better cast line up
