Interstellar

It's long been known as the project Spielberg fans have been waiting for, but now it seems like Chris Nolan may just take the helm and direct the screenplay penned by his brother.

From Collider:

Quote:
News on Nolan being in negotiations to helm Interstellar comes via Heat Vision, after what is described as being a very complex deal-making process that has been underway for a number of months. It’s unclear at this point whether Spielberg will have any involvement with the picture, though his schedule is considerably more open now that Robopocalypse has been shelved. The deal is being set up at Paramount, though both Paramount and Warner Bros. will make the picture; Lynda Obst is attached to produce.

This should come as great news to Nolan fans, especially those who considered his original works to be the most rewarding of his career. The layered storyline of Memento and the mind-bending concept of Inception could be but practice to what the Nolan’s have in store for Interstellar. Considering the script is based off of the scientific theses of Thorne, who is a theoretical physicist, gravitational physicist and astrophysicist to boot, there’s no telling what level of brain-twisting we’re in for now that the Nolans get to play with wormholes and alternate dimensions. I couldn’t be happier!
While I would have loved to see Spielberg direct this (especially now since Roboapocalypse has been shelved), Nolan would be a worthy replacement. The project itself sounds like fascinating, potentially mind-bending stuff. Looking forward to seeing how this pans out!

Sucks that we won't know when this will come out, but if anyone is going to replace Spielberg, I'm glad its Nolan

Agreed. I'd love to see Nolan tackle sci fi again.

This should be interesting. I'm hoping to see some new faces, not a Dark Knight/Inception reunion. However, I know Michael Caine will show up in some capacity.
