What's The Best Musical To Come Out Since 2000?

With Les Miserables being released now, I thought it was a good time to do a poll like this.

The Musical seemed to be dead for a while, but really made a comeback in the 2000's.

I'm only including the most widely known and acclaimed ones in the poll.

I realize there are lower profile ones like Hedwig And The Angry Inch, Across The Universe and Camp out there, but that's why I'll include an Other Option.

I also realize there could possibly be fans of poorly received musicals like Rent, Phantom Of The Opera, Mamma Mia, and Nine, but again, that's what the other option is for.

Haven't seen Les Miz yet.

Moulin Rouge! is #1 with Chicago probably #2. Also love Enchanted, if that counts as a musical.

Nine was also incredibly underrated.

Dancer in the Dark

These are a few of my favorite scenes...

...and then I don't feel so bad...

Of the ones that I have seen, I dislike most of them. I did enjoy Les Miserables and The Muppets though.

The Saddest Music in The World, Romance & Cigarettes, The Muppets, and Dancer in The Dark would be the runners-up.

I also haven't enjoyed most of the offerings. I didn't like Chicago, Dreamgirls, or Les Mis and I hated Moulin Rouge and Sweeney Todd. Not a big musical fan in general.

Animated is Tangled, live-action is The Muppets.

"Dancer in the Dark" by far, because it's musically the best.

I went with Sweeney Todd because it gave me reason to restore faith in Tim Burton as a director and it showed the violence and music can be done so effortlessly--something that has not really been accomplished since The Rocky Horror Picture Show.

No contest. Dancer in the Dark is great as well though...just a devastating movie. Moulin Rouge is aight.

I seem to be among the few who didn't really care for The Muppets or Sweeney Tod.

Moulin Rouge! (10/10 or A+), followed by Les Miserables (9/10 or A).

You forgot Phantom of the Opera, which is a lot more high profile than Dancer in the Dark or Once, IMO. But it's not gonna get any votes, so oh well.
