Pocahontas - Despite not being remotely historically accurate there are still some parts of the film that I liked. The Pocahontas and John Smith characters were good as the leads and many of Pocahontas' tribe were well done also. The Englishmen were for the most part ridiculous though. 5/10

The Hunchback of Notre Dame - This time not being true to the story really killed my enjoyment especially the ending. I don't see why they had to change one of the greatest novels ever written and give the movie a happy fucking ending. I also didn't like the talking gargoyles. What was Disney thinking when they made this? 3/10

Hercules - Wow. Disney really has just been ignoring the source material with the past few movies. The main problem with this was they didn't really know what direction they wanted the film to take. The comedy was forced, the music was poor, and the mythology was twisted almost beyond recognition. The one good thing was the voice actors were excellent in this one. James Woods especially did a good job. 5/10

Aw. This is actually one of my favorite disney movies. It's definitely their most underrated.

DJANGO UNCHAINED - 7/10
I enjoyed most of this movie, but the soundtrack was so wildly uneven and annoying as fuck most of the time.
So was that endless scene with "but you can't see through these damn things!"

It could have been a good half hour shorter, but it was still good.

I always think the first half is hilarious, and then it kinda runs out of steam at the last half.

Mulan - Now we're back to some excellent Disney entertainment. The film was filled with impressive visuals and there was a good story as well. Throw in some solid action and a scary villain and this is quite an addition to the Disney legacy. 9/10

Tarzan - This was a pretty good effort to recreate the Edgar Rice Burroughs story. Much of the original story was cut out but the tone still felt like what Burroughs intended and the relationship between Tarzan and Jane developed fully. 7/10

Flesh And Bone (1993) - ** 1/2

The ending was disappointing, which was a shame, because I was interested where it was going. The standouts were definitely James Caan and Gwyneth Paltrow and I would have liked to have seen more of them.

Fantasia 2000 - This may not be as good as the first one but there were still some nice pieces of classical music with entertaining stories to watch. I'm not sure why they used the Sorcerer's Apprentice again though. Surely they could have found another piece. 7/10

Dinosaur - The visuals were impressive but the story was lacking. After the initial disaster it's just a bunch of dinosaurs looking for a new place to live with a few fights mixed in. 5/10

Smashed

That small alcoholism drama that flew in under the mainstream moviegoing radar last year. No, not that one, I mean the other one. You know, with Jesse from Breaking Bad? Iíve never been either for or against Mary Elizabeth Winstead as an actress. She didnít ruin a film if she was in it, but she didnít really stand out to me either, one way or the other. All that changed with this one performance, in my eyes. She was incredible, and definitely proved her mettle in an emotionally demanding role of the 20-something schoolteacher trying to get a handle on her disease before it and her unsupportive and irresponsible husband (Aaron Paul) consumes her. Itís a part that runs the gamut from being vulnerable, desperate, funny, and oftentimes downright unlikeable. But thatís the uncomfortable journey of substance abuse in all its little heartbreaking inconsistencies and disappointments that Winstead captures perfectly. If it werenít for Denzelís amazing work in Flight, Iíd call this the best damn alcoholic performance of 2012.

I watched....

Spring Breakers today! Ok let me tell you something I loved it! I have no idea why everyone hates on gritty real indie films. Get over it. It was great. James Franco man you are weirder by the minute but so gooood! As for the Disney chicks mad props to Selena she's really proving herself as an actress.

The Emperor's New Groove - Much of the humor was too childish for me. The only voice actors I liked in this were John Goodman and Patrick Warburton. Everyone else did a poor job. Definitely one of Disney's weaker efforts. 3/10

Atlantis: The Lost Empire - The story didn't make a whole lot of sense at times but I did like many of the characters. There were some solid action sequences as well. 6/10

The Outrage - This is basically Rashomon remade as a Western. Even with the star power of people like Paul Newman, Edward G Robinson, Laurence Harvey, and Claire Bloom it's not nearly as good as the original. Standing on its own it's a good film but this is an unnecessary remake of a masterpiece. 7/10

Lilo and Stitch - There were some fun characters in this (mainly the aliens) but the film wasn't as good as it could have been. Lilo and her big sister were both kind of annoying and the story wasn't terribly original. 5/10
