The Cat Thread

I fucking love cats, they're just so great! They're not loud, they go to the bathroom outside (most of the time), they peacefully sleep and you can helicopter them! So, let's talk about cats!

I love the "Icanhazcheezburger" pics, and all the youtube videos of cat's doing crazy/funny things. The "It's a cat flushing the toilet" song is also a work of genius!

Here it is:

Also I had two cats one I called Noah who is 6 (who my fucking ex-wife gave to the humane society):

And the other I still have, who's name is Skye and she's 9:

My wife and I dropped the kids off at daycare and on the way home we saw a little cat walking along the side of a some wooded area nearest the busy street. I stopped the car and went across the street to see. The cat went into the wooded area about 20 feet in and was meowing.

I got cut on my leg trying to get through the bushes and yelled Fuck. The cat was not scared and stayed where it was. I could not see her, but I heard her meow. When I got to her, she was this small little kitten about 3 or 4 weeks old. I picked it up and brought it home or it would have been street meat or food for a larger animal.

She was so friendly and cute. I thought for sure she got out and belonged to someone. Later that evening, I went around to the 25 or so houses on the street area and asked around. It seems that the kitten's mom was killed on the same road a few nights ago. One neighbor said there were 3 kittens, but the mom kept them away from people. She was a homeless cat.

I already have two cats, but I kept this one too. I took her to the vet and she had three types of worms and parasites in her system and had to feed her meds for a couple weeks. I kept her about a month and tried to give her away. She needed multiple flea baths. She loved playing with my boy cat for a few minutes here and there when I let her out of her room. Had to give my cats a coupel flea baths too to be safe.

After about a week, the owner of my company said he wanted her. His cat just died a couple weeks ago and the other cat he has is lonely. I brought her over and everyone just loves this friendly kitten. This was about a year ago. Now she is a fat cat who is loved by all and I did not even get a raise.

That was a good deed for the year. The previous year, I tried to help a cat, but she ended up getting killed on the same road again.

Umm i hate cats

I prefer dogs who are freindly and always want a pat

But cats can be cute and cuddly only when they feel like it
They love to scratch and attack you

This is why I like cats and not dogs.

The Cat's Diary

Day 983 of My Captivity

My captors continue to taunt me with bizarre little dangling objects. They dine lavishly on fresh meat, while the other inmates and I are fed hash or some sort of dry nuggets. Although I make my contempt for the rations perfectly clear, I nevertheless must eat something in order to keep up my strength.

The only thing that keeps me going is my dream of escape. In an attempt to disgust them, I once again vomit on the carpet. Today I decapitated a mouse and dropped its headless body at their feet. I had hoped this would strike fear into their hearts, since it clearly demonstrates my capabilities. However, they merely made condescending comments about what a "good little hunter" I am. Bastards!

There was some sort of assembly of their accomplices tonight. I was placed in solitary confinement for the duration of the event. However, I could hear the noises and smell the food. I overheard that my confinement was due to the power of "allergies." I must learn what this means, and how to use it to my advantage.

Today I was almost successful in an attempt to assassinate one of my tormentors by weaving around his feet as he was walking. I must try this again tomorrow, but at the top of the stairs.

I am convinced that the other prisoners here are flunkies and snitches. The dog receives special privileges. He is regularly released, and seems to be more than willing to return. He is obviously retarded. The bird must be an informant. I observe him communicate with the guards regularly. I am certain that he reports my every move. My captors have arranged protective custody for him in an elevated cell, so he is safe. For now ...

LOVE cats. We have two - Emma is a stripey domestic shorthair who's 7.5 years old. Ivy is a Seal Point Siamese who's 13 weeks.

Ivy is also currently sitting on my shoulder cleaning herself.

Kimba

Love cats!

Here's a couple pics of my cat Kimba:

Those were when she was a kitten and a lil' bugger. She'll be 2 next month and has definetly matured. Gotta upload some more recent pics but I love those ones.

It's very rare I've seen an ugly cat. They're out there, but I don't see 'em too often.

Very nice pics guys!

Cats are so dignified and smart while dogs are just stupid slobbering barking-

Quote:
The image of dogs as slobbering, clumsy, stupid animals is such a cat-person perspective.

Goddammit!

I was a dog guy my whole life until I took in a stray cat. The girl hunted, brought me dead birds and animals... She was an all around badass. So I got the impression that cats are more wild than dogs. They still have some of that wild grace to them. Then again I have never been around hunting dogs or farm dogs. And my last two apartments have been neighbors to an irresponsible dog owner who chains the poor bastard in their back yard so he can bark all day. And I had a childhood in the woods where the neighborhood dogs roamed around all day, and that was cool, and they weren't locked up into neurotic bark machines.

You aight, dogs. You aight. But you fucking barkers aren't protecting any home and aren't alerting any owner to danger. Come on. It's a squirrel. It's a bicycle. You're not saving a life, although you're ruining the peace and quiet of five.

My family and I have had 12 cats over the years, between kittens, strays we've taken in, cats we bought, etc.

Needless to say, I love cats. They're cute, sweet, and most importantly, not needy. I love other people's dogs, but would never want to own one. They need so much attention, need to be taken out... a lot of responsibility. As long as the cat has food, water, and a clean litter box, it's fine.

Well, at least mature cats, which is what leads me to an opinion that I think only I have: I actually prefer cats to kittens. Kittens are like babies: you have to "kitten-proof" your house. My friend's kitten knocked a candle over and almost burned down his appartment. The kitten itself needed to be shaved because of all the wax in its fur. Yeah, they do cute things, but man are they irritating.

Give me a cat that's like 5 or 6 years old over any pet. They're loyal, affectionate when necessary (our cats always seemed to sleep with us if any of us were sick, like they had a sense for it or something), self-reliant, still have energy to play with kids, and hopefully still cute.

I've had both dogs and cats as pets different times in my life and enjoyed what both brought to the table in terms of companionship and humor.

After watching lots of Cats 101 I've learned the aloofness is really dependent upon the breed. For instance Ragdolls and Snowshoes are considered "velcro cats" and thrive on frequent interaction and closeness with their owners. Turkish Vans: Very aloof, but enjoy water.

Right now there's this stray cat in my neighborhood my mom and her husband have been feeding since it was a kitten. They've even named her: Gladys. She comes by every night at the same time and enjoys her routine nightly feedings and a rub behind the neck. She loves it so much she falls to the floor exposing her belly for rubbing. I know cats who have lived indoors all their lives who never let anyone even touch their belly, let alone roll over like a dog and take a rub.

We're planning on taking her in. We just have to schedule getting her shots, spayed, capping her claws and picking the right litter and littler box to cut down on smell and kicking/tracking litter pellets on the floor. I'm going for pine pellets to really cut down on the ammonia smell.
