MONSTERS, INC. vs. HARRY POTTER

BoxOfficeGuru ( http://www.boxofficeguru.com ) recently did a poll of which Autumn family film people were most interested in seeing. MONSTERS, INC. got 54% of the vote, HARRY POTTER got 46%. I think it's awfully impressive that a film with mid-to-low high buzz like MONSTERS, INC. would fare better than a huge-buzz film like HARRY POTTER in a poll.

Now, you may say "It's only one website, polls never matter," but I think it's nice that HARRY POTTER doesn't rule the world.

it doesn't suprise me that much, because pixar has been pumping out quality films for 6 years, and book-to-film movies are usually a pretty big letdown.

What suprises me is that no other family films even mad the chart.

Am I the only person who thinks Monsters, Inc will probably not be that great? I think I'll wait for video with that one. Harry Potter looks fantastic! I can't wait for that to come out. Monsters, Inc will make more money, but Harry Potter will be much better.

I personally want to see "Harry Potter" and have no real interest in seeing "Monsters, Inc." but I might see it on DVD or something. One reason I can think of that might be the reason "MI" is getting more votes then "HP" is that some religious type people think it glorifies witch craft and wizardry. And that is simply a no no! LOL, I don't care, though.

I'm not looking forward to Harry Potter. Monsters, Inc., however, looks great, and I can't wait! I love children's movies!

I'm not really looking forward to HARRY POTTER either, I'm not sure what the big deal about it is (besides the fact that the book sold billions of copies). I think MONSTERS, INC. looks inventive and fresh. Can't wait!

Harry Potter will suck, i never read the books, but most movies to books are ethier good, ok, or very bad. Monsters Inc could be good.

If you never read the books, then how can you be so sure the movie will suck?

I'm looking forward to both these movies.

I think Harry Potter will be a very well made film, very atmospheric. I read a report of an early screening of the film on AICN, and whether it's authentic is another thing, but it was a very positive one (Apparently).

Monsters Inc. - I think the concept of the film is a good one, not an original idea, but it may have original elements - one being those doors that transport them to bedrooms, that is excellent.
Visually, it doesn't look anything new compared to Toy Story, although PIXAR's subtle technological improvements (fur, fluff etc) may help.

In the end, these are entirely different films, but Harry Potter has an advantage (even though PIXAR has established itself, the hype alone from the HP books gives the HP film the edge).

I'll go to see both.

There is no Harry Potter vs. Monsters Inc. These films will play off of eachother. They both look like good films, and they will both make a ton of money. I think Potter will stay around longer and will make money for an extended period, and Monsters will have a good weekend or two and than fade rapidly. Either way, both of these films, to me, are only helping to make Lord of the Rings a bigger sucess. They are both fantasy films with monsters and wizards and elves and dwarves and trolls, and all the kids and teens who go see these movies, and all there parents are going to go see the Lord of the Rings too. Huge, I tell ya.

i think harry potter will blow because the books has been out only a short while and they seemed like they rushed the macking of it so they can capitalize on the franchize, i have never ead any of the books been meaning to because i hear some good things but i geuss only time will tell on the movies enjoyability. i am very excited about monsters inc though i loved toy story 1 and 2 they where both fuckin hillarious movies that make other half-drawn disney movies seem like dog shit, they don't dace they don't sing it's just great story and a bunch of laughs so what i have seen of monsters inc it seems like they did it again with this one.
