Henry : POASK the ultimate serial killer flick of all time ?

The first time I saw this film I was impressed !!!
John Macnaugthon has made a great job with only 10.000 bucks or something !!!!!!!!!
Michael Rooker is very convincing, playing the killer Henry.
It is not for the squeamish and a few scenes are really harsh.
It is has a documentary style - look like for TCM and The Last House On The Left.
This grainy pictures, the outside shooting, cool !!!
Don't expect an ending that turns good, you will be disapointed !!!!!!
Great film and more interesting than The Silence Of The Lambs because it is more realistic and you follow the real life of the killer.

This movie scared the shit out of me. I was around 15 years old. The lady at the video place I rented movies reccomended it. I could not sleep for a week. I'll never watch that movie again. Ever. But that's because I'm a puss with some movies. It was definetly well done.

I have to admit, I am not a fan of Henry NOT because I think it is a bad film. It's awesome. But it is so brutal and ever since I had these 2 acquaintances killed viciously by a guy like Henry, I really have no desire to see it again. It's just too much.
I think it is EXTREMELY well done but it is just too damn personal for me.

I think the director did a helluva job considering the limited amount of resources he had at his disposal.

I watched this film around 1990, back before I had heard the Internet hype of it, and thought it was average.

It was pretty damn disturbing, that I'll admit. The (**** SPOILERS ****) videotaped murder of the family was a little hard to watch. The low production values really helped that scene out. It wouldn't have nearly had the same impact in a big Hollywood flick.

Overall it wasn't a life changing film, but the director did a great job of creating a memorable movie with a budget smaller than the cost of a new Chevy Cavalier. Pretty impressive.

Probably a movie every horror fan should see.

kween... sorry to hear about your loss.

DISAPPOINTMENT! When I finally got my hands on a copy, I was so excited. I thought I was going to be scared shitless. Well I wasn't. I was B O R E D out of my mind! Some of the scenes were disturbing, yea I'll admit that, but it was so bland. Way overrated... By no means better than SOTL, and Seven. 4/10 (Gains points for acting, and being technically very well made, loses lots for being so damn boring.

As much as I think serial killers are terrible people I also have a strange fascination with them. This movie sounds very well done and I like that it is shot documentary style so hopefully I will be able to view it soon. Dahmer was another such movie that I thought was well made. Just the fact that these people are real and not your average fictional boogeyman is what makes me curious as to how they could commit such atrocities. Well thats all for now GOoD JOURNEY my fellow schmoes.

SPOILERS FOR HENRY

Okay so I finally got around to seeing this film a couple months ago and although I thought it was a pretty well made film I also have a few problems with it. Not so much with the movie but with how loosely it actually follows Henry's tale. Henry was a drifter who went around the country killing people with Otis and Becky. From watching this film you would never have known that.

Secondly, although Becky WAS Henry's love interest, in real life she was between the ages of 9 and 15 when she was with Henry. In the movie they made her out to be around the age of 25.

Another problem I had was with the films end. Yes Henry killed Becky in reality but he never killed Ottis. They were both sent to prison and Ottis died in 1996 from chirrosis.

Well if I go by ignoring some of these actual events and take the movie for what it is then I can say the film works well. Michael Rooker plays the role well and the other two actors come out alright but not great. A decent buy.

Well thats all for now GOoD JOURNEY my fellow schmoes.

I loved this movie but something that bothered me was that in the movie Becky was Otis's sister. In real life she was his niece. I also wish John Macnaugthon would have let Henry's character talk more about his brutal childhood with his mother. I've read a book about Henry Lee Lucas and let me tell you the movie version got off very easy compared to the real version. BTW for all those schmoes who thought the film was hard to watch, if it had been even remotely like his real spree you wouldn't last five minutes.

I agree. I wouldn't have minded them adding an extra hour or so to the movie to give us some backstory on Henry's life and get more in-depth and accurate with things overall. Well thats all for now GOoD JOURNEY my fellow schmoes.
