I am glad I saw your low score on Pumpkin Karver. I was thinking of renting it. Now I probably wont waste my time. Another DTV with a cool cover and a crappy film inside.
Your welcome Ratlehed, always glad to help out. Here's another one to avoid...

I Always Know What You Did Last Summer 2/10 What a sh*t-load of f*ck!!!

Two more to avoid...

Murder Set Pieces 2/10 Why was Edwin Neal, Gunnar Hansen, Tony Todd, and Cerina Vincent even in this piece of sh*t!?!

Bone Sickness 2/10 This film wishes it was low-budget, but it was really no-budget.

It's been a bad night for blind rent, glad they were FREE!!!

Hmm, interesting scores for the PROM NIGHT sequels. I love the original and thought the second was pretty cool too. Yet to see the 3rd and 4th but I bought the box set so it's only a matter of time.

Gutted you can't buy the SLUMBER PARTY MASSACRE sequels region 2. I really enjoyed the original and own it, but can't find any of the sequels. Save me looking on playusa, are they available region 1?

Prom Night 3 isn't a straight horror film like the others, its more of a comedy and a pretty damn funny one at that which is probably why its the only one out of the series that i really enjoyed

also the Slumber Party Massacre sequels were released on region 1 but went OOP
the fourth one is available on region 2 but it only really fits into the series because of a very very brief cameo and flashback from one of the actresses from the first film

just finished watching

Creepshow 3 - 3/10
overlong and after the soso start just goes constantly downhill

My Bloody Valentine - 8/10

As part of my usual Valentines Day tradition I watched this great little film (along with a huge dose of The Simpsons). Why oh why can't Paramount release the uncut version of this? Dumbass'. But it may be in the works since the only version that's out now is discontinued. So come on Paramount, make me hate you less!

Jason Goes to Hell: The Final Friday - 5/10

Definitely my least favorite of the franchise. This isn't even in the same vein of the other films. It has no style whatsoever in common with the others and I'm quite disappointed. It's just not even a Friday the 13th movie.

PROM NIGHT 3

Oh dear, why do they take the title of a great slasher movie and ruin it's reputation by trying to be fucking funny?! As a stand alone I would've enjoyed it for what it is. The only real enjoyment I got out of it was seeing PACEY'S brother DOUG from DAWSON'S CREEK pop up in a supporting role! Now that's funny!

PROM NIGHT 4

Well fuck me!! A movie I expected to be a dismal affair turns out to be rather useful! I was impressed by the fact it didn't pull any punches and threw a few spanners into the works in the way of it's unpredictable nature. AND it dropped the stupid comic edge that fucked up the last installment! Good move homes!

The Abandoned

What a frustrating film.

On one hand visually it's really interesting. It's gorgeous to look at and it just has a really distinct feel to it. They really nail the atmosphere. Also I really appreciated the fact that the movie was not about gore or loud noises but brought tension through it's story, mood, and the really interesting idea of their "doubles."

Also, I thought the movie came together in the end in a really interesting way. It's so refreshing to see a movie that tried to be really ambitious in its themes, dream logic, and ultimately it's bleak emotional sucker punch of a resolution. I also really liked the whole double angle. Not only does it lead to a really interesting resolution, but it made some incredibly intense scenes.

What's really annoying though is the script. While it had some great ideas and it went in some interesting directions it was also amazingly thin for such a long film. It seems it wasn't until over half the film that the movie actually kicked in. Also, the lead actress had to do some amazingly stupid things to movie the plot forward since there were only three characters in the entire film.

Still, while this is a very flawed film it's more ambitious, interesting, and tense than most of the horror films that come out today.

If only they would have worked on the script a lot more it would have been great film. Still I reccommend it.

7/10

I watched Saw 3 on dvd and was very pleased with it. The movie had more of the "If Jigsaw is so terminally ill how can he possibly be doing all this?" feeling that the first two movies had but I was able to suspend disbelief and found the story angle to be quite intriguing. When I met Lee Whanell (Monster Mania 7) I told him exactly what I thought of the franchise and told him that I really appreciated his and James Wan's dedication. Well thats all for now GOoD JOURNEY my fellow schmoes.

DEATH LINE
DEEP STAR SIX
PHANTASM for about the TENTH time!!!!!!!

DEATH LINE was very disappointing. CREEP took the elements, expanded upon them and made a better film.

DEEP STAR SIX I saw for the first time since I was 9. Stick to the slashers MR CUNNINGHAM.
