Alien Siege - 5/10
Is there really anything better than these cheesy and just generally terrible B-movies that the Sci Fi channel keeps coming up with? I'd say no, judging by the fact that I sat through 100 minutes of this low-budget mess, and was thoroughly engaged the whole way through. Alien Siege is not a good film, in fact it's very bad, but there's no denying that it makes for amusing and entertaining viewing, which is about all you can ask from a film of this type.

Martyrs 4/5 and Inside 4/5, I still haven't written reviews but they were both excellent for many different reasons.

Inside is FANTASTIC...

but I found Martyrs to be almost as overrated as the Dark Knight

Martyrs was two different films, the first half was totally different then the second half. And I had a feeling of where it was going to go too, and I was mostly right.

Inside is something else though, soo gruesome! Like wow!

Yeah, I was really in to the first half, then the second I couldn't wait to finish, just so I could say I saw it, won't ever be giving it another watch, thank gawd I didn't waste any money on it, especially after hearing so many great reviews. Terrible.

And Inside kicks so much ass! One of my favs, glad to own it.

Ils is great up until the finale which was a bit of a let down for me...

Ils really starts off promising but is ultimately far too tame for its own good. Still like it well enough though.

Cold Prey - 7/10 I rented this because so many people rated it here recently. It was sort like a Friday the 13th in the snow.

Not seen Darkness Falls since it was released but I remember enjoying it.

Blood: The Last Vampire ('09) - 7/10
Disappointing, the first half is pretty much the same as the anime film, the rest I assume is what happens in the manga afterwards(?!?!?!?!?). The effects are all over the place, the CG at times looked great but at others just looked odd and very fake, particularly the creature. It's still an entertaining film but not as good as I had hoped it would be.

The Unborn ('87 - 4/10
Dull Japanese horror, fast foward to the last 10 minutes.

yeah, it's a fun movie, I'd even go as far as to say it's a bit underrated...I want a sequel

Cold Prey / Cold Prey II

I know many like the sequel better, but I found it a real disappointment, particularly watched back to back with the first film. The second lacks the reason to care that I felt in the first film, in which the character work in the first half hour really invests you in the stalk and slash of the last 60 minutes. Both films benefit from a great final girl in Ingrid Bolso Berdal's Jannicke and both have an excellent last reel, but Part 2 treads water before getting to it, where the first film is highly engaging throughout (and, frankly, didn't invite or need a sequel)

I feel like I'm taking crazy pills. Cold Prey was fucking awful. I can't be the only one out there who thinks so.

I LOVE Both!

And I'm one of those who found the sequel even better. Everything was bumped up a notch, ESPECIALLY our Snowman Slasher. He was so badass in part II, can't wait for the prequel!

To each their own, I'm sure there's movies you enjoy which I do not...

My Bloody Valentine (2009)

Gave it a 9 when I first saw it in theatres, but it's still pretty good without the crazy effects. I don't know why they even include the glasses with the DVD though, I took them off after 5 minutes as they only lowered the quality. Fun movie, too bad there's no sequel on the way

8.5/10

Trick R Treat (8.5/10) - Went into it thinking "how could it possibly live up to all the hype?" well it did, almost. Loved the concept, it covered all different types of genre fare and had a nasty edge to it. Acting for the most part was solid, there were a few cheesy moments that I could've done without and the gore was good but could've been turned up a notch. Overall, I would recommend it to all genre fans and even most non-genre fans as a Halloween night watch.

I watched The Last House on the Left remake a couple of nights ago and was definitely not impressed. It was watchable, I suppose, but very forgettable. 3 (or maybe 4)/10.

I watched Ils (Them) and I really liked it, 4/5 I think. I liked it better then The Strangers, I felt it was an overall tighter film and The Strangers just had too many obvious plot holes, where Ils did not. I also liked who the culprits were as it was rather disturbing.

Pontypool - 10/10
It's a great feeling when a film you know nothing about completely surprises and engages you from start to finish. Fantastic acting and direction with a gripping plot and a well written script.
