Girl Talk - Warm It Up
This guy is making me so giddy, this is the most fun I've had listening to an album in awhile. I love what he's doing fucking shoving music you are by nature indie music listener to distance yourself from...it's great fun and makes pop music cool. I;d love to attend one of this guy's shows..last show I went to was Bob Dylan and his blues band at a fucking ZOO, a zoo complete with pavilions! and patios! and rich aging hippies and non-hippies who know who Dylan is because he is so popular. It's funny, Dylan makes no eye contact with the audience, doesn't commment on the weather to the crowd or allude to the fact that he's playing at a zoo inserted awkwardly into a Kansas City ghetto. Dylan does his own thing and we all sit and watch and applaud when the time is appropriate (the end of the song and the end of the set so he can come back and play more songs (we know he will..such is) and we are sitting there damn near motionless. The groups of girls got the right idea, with the grinding and whatnot but I hold no grudges. These seats are implanted; they are going nowhere. There's a cool breeze, and you're old, nothing finer than lounging and watching Bob croak a few. But there's conflict when you tell a girl who's having a good time to sit down and stare silently in her seat...your in the right she's blocking the view of others and the standers and sitters cannot coexist...if only their was a blinking sign indicating which songs are STAND ONLY and SIT ONLY...jar a few, you don't have to move while you are standing but you're now longer in a position to derail someone elses enjoyment are you! and you are enjoying yourself. Someone like Girl Talk would be great because it's outright permission to move about as goofy as you can without staring calculated eyes angling for the best time to interject and tell you to sick the fuck down...it's just the pressure of being cool, perceived as cool, is immediately eradicated when Golddigger comes on over that "It's Magic!" song forcing you to choose...I mean, are you going to reject on the basis that it's lame...are you gonna remain hands crossed and fucking glower or are you going to qualify your enjoyment that that song only sounds good over that bass part from another, much cooler song.
