Hellraiser: Inferno A review by Sully
Hellraiser: Inferno (2000)
Corrupt cop Joseph is after some crazy-ass psycho known as "The Engineer", after fiding the "Lament Configuration" in a murder scene, he is driven into a hellish world of nightmare, demons and sin. Is It Any Good? You bet your spicky arse it is! The great thing about the flick is that changes the whole shitty series "Hellraiser" had become (Parts III and IV). The overuse of Pinhead in the previews movies was reliefed by some brief "cameo" he has. Inferno focuses more in the mature side of Hell, with it's main theme: "You are bad...your ass will burn in hell forever" was incredibly scary and the ending was just eerie and very spooky. Yes, although the movie does not refer much to the Hellraiser series, it DOES have a few hellraiser references (Hooks, cenobites, the works). Also, a strong points up was the incredibly merciless plot. (Joseph's parents and the pillar of souls come to mind) the gore is great, not a gorefest, but the blood they use is very well used and handled, and the cenobites are really scary. A movie not easily forgetable. Gore The gore only kicks in for major reasons...anyway, a skinned back, a severed head, creepy monsters, skinning by hooks, severed fingers, an "under the skin" scene thats just brrrrrr and more Overall "A", the movie rocks, this is not Monsters, Inc. so it isn't perect, but it gets close enough. Fun guaranteed! |

Agree
I totally agree with your review, it was really refreshing to see the Hellraiser series go in a new direction. But what really annoyed me was the critisism from many horror fans. First everybody complains about the endless unoriginal sequels, then when an original sequel finaly comes out everybody complains that it's not enough like the rest of the series.
