Why people dont like Friday the 13th part 5
I think that people dont like Friday the 13th part 5 because after part 4, people wanted to see what happened next. "Spoiler" Then we get Roy killing everyone. "Spoiler"
I think that hit Friday fans hard. this movie is not scary, not original(other then Roy) and this movie is not great. But, I think it is very underrated for many considering it the worst of the series. Take a look back at this one for some entertainment, if you want a good movie, look elsewhere. |

My thoughts:
This movie was only made because Final Chapter did so good at the Box Office. Why can't they ever say Final Chapter, or The Final Friday and actually mean it???! |

I don't despise Part 5,I think it's pretty good. But I know there are a lot of people who hate it.
One of the bad things about it for me was the character of Tommy Jarvis. What the hell did they do to him?? I'm glad he was back to normal in Part 6.And what the hell happened to Tommy's glasses? He has them on in the van on the way to the Institute and then stops wearing them about halfway through and doesn't seem to have any sight problems. A few of the deaths in Part 5 were really cool.Road flare in the mouth and leather strap to the eyes, for example. But where does Roy put those garden shears? Into the girl's eyes? I laugh every time Roy appears behind the ambulance and Reggie screams. That scream is hilarious! I like Part 5 better than Part 4.I think Part 4 is boring as hell, but still better than Part 3 which is my least favourite. But Part 7 still remains my favourite Friday. |

As posted in many other topics, I find FRIDAY THE 13TH PART 5: JASON TAKES A HOLIDAY to be one of the funniest (albeit unintentionally) horror films, to be enjoyed as pure camp. SPOILER ALERT: A paramedic out for revenge poses as old Jase and hacks his way through the teen population of a loony farm, as well as: a busty waitress and her uglier-than-Jason cokehead boyfriend; a Michael Jackson wannabe and his Foxy Brown girlfriend; a hillbilly mother and son; and two clueless greasers in a stalled car. Also, this film boasts excellent performances by John Shepherd as Tommy Jarvis and Shavar Ross as Reggie the Reckless. Melanie Kinnaman (an Amy Steel lookalike), is okay as the heroine, but not in the same league as her predecessors.

In response to Michael's question about Tommy's missing specs, I assumed that he graduated to contact lenses in this flick. |

This movie is the first friday the 13th I saw and that's probably the reason why at the time I liked it. I saw it yesterday for the second time and now I realize what you people mean when you say it's a bad movie. Almost everything in this movie is dumb and most of the character are so annoying that you want them to die. About the madonna and Michael Jackson wannabes. What the fuck!! I hope the only reasons why they were in that movie is make people laugh cause I was laughing hard when I saw them.
The good points would have to be the guy who play Tommy. Wow he played the insane guy perfecly. I though that he would suck but he didn't. Some murder were cool toe.But I have one question:if the killer is not Jason (which he's not), how can he be able to take a simple belt put it on the fronthead of a guy, pull the guy's head on a tree and destroy in some way his face with the belt. Sounds pretty unrealistic to me. I though that Jason was one strong son of a bitch, but apparently he's not the only one. |

I liked part five, sure it did not involve the real Jason but it was a hoot! How can you not laugh your ass off when that fat chocolate bar eating retard gets axed??? Right the hell on!!! Serves him right for messing up the clean laundry Robert Smiths girlfriend was trying to hang up and for pestering ax man with his gibber jabber.
Good T&A? Who said that? Yeah it was good but hardly memorable and not enough of it!!!We need more t&a!!!! I miss the 80's you had all these chicks willing to get naked now they are like oh no... bastards!! Have you seen Shannon Whirrys boobs? Oh my goodness! who else has the best boobs in horror? Now I do not want any A cup replies! Remember when boobs were real? Rent an 80's horror to refresh your memory they are the ones that acutally bounce and have some healthy give! They should have ended at part 4 thats the only reason Tom Savini did the f/x was because he was tricked into thinking this was the last one. You see as Jasons creator Tom wanted to kill him and he did but they had to go give birth to him again. What the hell was Jason Takes Mannhatten? Are you kidding me? Jason X? Jason in space? Yeah OK!!! |

It's about as bad as most of the series, probably more entertaining than for the unintentional humour. I don't see why people are pissed that the killer wasn't Jason, it was still the same as all the other movies (Barring the first and the last one), a dude in a hockey mask killing people for a while before the remaining cast members fight back in the climax. I do seem to recall it did have the most T&A for the series.

F13:5 is a tweener film for me. It has a decent line to it. The scenes with the Mayor talking about Jason being buried looks so amature, but it makes you think. The deaths are pretty much standard, more than not they are off screen or look really fake.
I hate the fact that Tommy is now a tough guy in this film. The real Jason would have still kicked his ass. What also sucks is that when Tommy halucinates that he sees Jason, he sees the fake Jason. Why the hell can't he at least dream of the real Jason?? The humor helps carry this film because there isn't much suspense or terror in this film. And to Krazy Ivan, Jason was not shot until F13:6, when he was a Zombie. Until he was killed by Tommy in the Final Chapter, he had only been a really tough bastard that faught through his limited injuries. I mean who couldn't live through being stabbed, machete through the shoulder, hung, stabbed again and taking an axe to the head (swung by a chick and with the aid of a goalie mask taking the brunt of the injury)??? You know what though, I saw Part 5 when I was pretty young, and I had the BIGGEST crush on that girl! How about that scene where she`s doing the 'robot dance' in her room! Crazy, crazy stuff. I still have a soft spot for Part 5 to this day, mostly because all the characters are so goofy (the Michael Jackson dude, the jive-talkin` little kid, the annoying-as-hell fat kid, the guy who stutters all the time, etc. etc.), and were there really Greasers in the 80`s?

Call me a weirdo . . . to an 8th grader at the time, this movie didn't seem bad at all. I lived in a small town with a two screen movie theater. On Saturday nights, all my friends would meet at the movies. F13 pt 5 was on for a pretty long while -- some nights, saw it twice. Remember seeing Porky's Revenge and F13 pt 5 on the same night. Anyway, I digress . . .
I liked it okay, haven't seen the movie in a while. I'll remedy that tonight though. Now, if I just had one of those 8th grade hotties (the all grown-up versions of course) to make out with again. |

Friday the 13th Part V is definitely the Halloween 3 of this series. While not overall being bad, the lack of Jason ( OK, I mean, he's there but only in Tommy's Imagination ) disappointed many fans. I'm not a big fan of this series so I think it can be enjoyed as another 80's fun slasher in the Woods. I dug the Micheal Jackson wannabe. He's cool.

Dont worry Norman. A lot of Friday fans hate Part 5 just because Jason is not in it. But I think that is unfair. Although I respect ANYONE'S opinion on the film, it bother's me that a decent slasher flick gets bashed just because it's different. But hey, quite a few fans (including me) love this cool, fun and bloody installment.

I love part 5, it has lots of kick ass gore, and good T&A, it's a lot of fun, I think it actually has a pretty good premise and I liked the ending. Go to Friday the 13th Best/Worst for a brief statement from me on this film.

Frankly, after seeing the dreary and monotonous Part 6, I wish they kept the concept of a "mystery Jason" that at least provided some suspense. Part 5 is a well-directed entry with a flashy, nasty edge to it; some of the kills were ingenious, particularly the flare in the mouth and the garden shears in the eyes.

Absolutely brilliant. ROY may not be JASON but damn he still took quite a beating. And that twisty leather strap device that he used on Eddie was one of the greatest kills of the series. Great film. Well thats all for now GOoD JOURNEY my fellow schmoes.

I didn't "don't like it"...what happened with me was that I was mostly let down, because Part IV was so cool and I expected V to be just as cool.
But...22 people bit it in the movie!! damn, thats a high bodycount! (love the Eddie and Junior deaths) [This message has been edited by Spider-Man (edited 05-24-2002).] |

Strangely, F13Part5 is a remake of the movie Don't Look in the Basement. The same company that owned the F13 series at the time owned Don't Look and just took the basic plot and worked a F13 story into it. The axe killing at the beginning is almost identical. They did the same thing with part 2 and Bava's Twitch of the Death Nerve. I think F13 5 is probablly the funniest horror movie ever made. That girl they got to "star" in the film was so bad I was emberassed for her. And what is with that scream she gives out? I haven't heard anything that bad since the scream in Plan 9 From Outer Space. I still love the movie though. It's a great cheasy time.

In my opinion, all the sequels are a disappointment, compared to Friday the 13th part 1. The 3rd one must have been very cool when you could see it in 3D, but on a normal VHS, it misses all the effects...Actually I haven't seen all the sequels, I stopped at Part 5, because I'm afraid that all the other ones are the same "shite" than the 4 sequels...Or are the later movies better?

all this talk about the friday films has got me curious so ive started buying them.and without doubt the two that are going in the bin already are 5 and 9.5 is so badly acted and the kills are shite and jason[roy] is shit.9 is like halloween6 its just a mess a total waste of time, take the kills out and its a tv movie.ive just watched part 6 and was very impressed, jason as a zombie much cooler and the person playing him does a great job, very good kills aswell
