Jordan? The Babe? Gordy Howe? Which person in your opinion has dominated the world of sports like no other? For me it is a toss-up between Ali andWayne Gretzky .

Peter Forsberg. He dominates a tad bit less than Gretzky did, but he's playing against mucho-talented defenseman and goalies with GAA closer to 1 than 10.

A tad bit? Dominates a tad bit less? I'd say alot less. Forsberg isnt the best player on his team (in my very very humble opinion). He ranks behind Sakic (who see's the ice WAY better than Forsberg has or ever will and is a superior passer) and Roy (I hate Roy, but he is an extraordinary goalie, one of the best ever).

Hell as far as I'm concerned Forsberg wouldn't rank in the top 10 hockey players of all time.


Best performer of all time? Without a doubt Gretzky. Followed up by Wilt.

I'm definitely in the minority on this one but I'll say Monica Seles. Look at her record pre-stabbing and the calibre of players she was regularly trouncing. I just reckon her grandslam record would be rivalling Graf's by now if it wasn't for that incident.

Currently, in the world of cycling - Lance Armstrong. He seems to be having a slow start this season, but, can he bag the 5th Tour de France title later this year? We shall see. Either way, he'll be remembered as a most remarkable athlete, being he's a cancer survivor.

I'm not a huge hockey fan, but what he did in his career is pretty amazing.

Michael Jordan or Ali. There are a lot of great ones, but these too just stick out -- because they got the killer instinct, they got this competition hunger that's unique. They're like sharks, when there's blood in the water, they can smell it. And they didn't do one great thing, they did great things over and over and over again, when they were expected to and when they weren't. Greatest sportsmen ever for me, no questions asked.

Good point's there, James. Let me ask a question about Ali though. Do you think it tarnished his legacy at all in the fact that he didn't know when to hang up the gloves?

I mean he got absolutely beat senseless in his last fight against Larry Holmes. He was well past his prime and possibly even showing signs of Parkinson's at that time. The last few years weren't very glorious for Ali, he just went on a little too long.

I don't think people really think of this though, they just think of the quick witted trash talker who had the epic fights with Joe Frazier and George Foreman. They also think of the young Cassius Clay who beat bully Sonny Liston into submission for the title.

He is one of the all-time greats for sure.

No one in the sports history has had a kicking game like his, and his defence is indescribable.

Add that to the fact he also leads the leauge in goals, id say he is number one on the list.

I don't think it did. I think it's always best for such winners to retire when they're at the top of their game. And sure, Ali getting beat up senseless is a vision most people didn't want to see or didn't think possible...and a vision of an older Michael Jordan tiring during the 3rd quarter either, mind. But for me, what makes 'em true championship, is their spirits, and those never changed. I'll always remember the great Ali, and I'll always remember that in his prime, he was the best fighter ever. And no one's been as good as he was since either.

Yep. Even though I don't support the game closely (I'm from Melbourne) I'm enough of a sports buff to recognise he's the best player ever. Comparable to (and better than) a player from another era, King Wally Lewis.

On the off chance that an Aussie Rules fan will stumble upon this, I also believe Wayne Carey and Leigh Matthews to be the two best players to ever pull on a guernsey, and cross the white line.
