Playoff beards anyone?

Alright, with the NHL playoffs well under way and the NBA's starting today, I was wondering if anyone has started growing their playoff beard yet?

Or any other sports superstitions you may have...

(As for the female sports schmoes out there (just Morgana) you can tell us what else you let grow during the post-season )

For the moment, I'm still shaving but who knows by Round 2, maybe...

I want a beard like a madman, but all the males in my family line haven't gotten near to a full beard, so my "playoff beard" won't succeed past stubble, even if I let it grow til August.

Shhh...nobody was supposed to know about that, Sev. I haven't shaved my legs since the playoffs started. lol. Just kidding! I am feeling inspired though...I can't grow a beard, but I have to support my team somehow. I'll give it a try and see what happens.

Some things I have been doing...I always have my hair up in a pony tail and wear my Stars hat during a game. It's a must. And I eat pretzels. They have to be pretzels, nothing else is acceptable.

If I could get away with it at school I would...damn Catholic schools are such uniform nazis. They bitch if you go a day without shaving.

I feel your pain Travis.
I went to a catholic high school. They had very strict shaving rules. One day, I forgot to shave, and the dean made me shave with this nasty old knicked up razor without even any shaving cream. I was cut up and bleeding by the time I was done. Ouch.

My beard grows fast, I could start today and have a pretty decent beard going by the end of the week. But my wife would be pissed. Damn, its just like being back in high school!

Almost 35 and still can't grow a beard.

I wear my Lakers hat. But if they start losing, I turn off the TV. It's my fault when they lose.

I have my taking law school finals beard. It just so happens that I began to grow it around the start of the hockey playoffs.

No shaving for me, thanks.

Although it won't be a fancy beard.

I've already got goatee. I'm not really a superstitious sort of person, alot of times I wear an Iowa sweatshirt on Saturday's in the fall. I guess there is one thing I do however, I always mute the tv announcers and listen to the Hawkeye radio broadcast's of football and basketball, that's more because I like our homer announcers as opposed to the tv announcers.

I did once burn a picture of a certain unnamed Hawkeye qb over my stove when he threw an interception that cost them a game one time. I was immature then however, just a mere 23 years old.

It's time to bump this thread up as I'm curious if any die hard baseball fans out there are letting their beards grow for the playoffs?

Already did that. I've had a gotee since it grew in when I was 14 (yes I know, young age). But ever since the playoffs, and seeing all the fans with faux Clement beards during the divison winning game, I shaved off everything but that area (the chin) and now have a Clementesque rally beard!!

Oh my god! That Clement goatee is the most hideous thing I've ever seen. Somebody kill that thing crawling around on his chin! Either grow a full one or trim it for next season, pleeeeaaase.

But I wouldn't care if he looked like Grizzly Adams as long as he can get a few wins in the NLCS and possibly World Series.

Yeah, that'd be a good look for you!

But if you remember correctly, earlier in the season when Clement shaved his goatee, he pitched horribly.

Well, I decided this afternoon during lunch to grow out my playoff beard. How's it look.......

lol...it looks like a bat parked itself on your chin.

Guys, please...don't do the Clement! That is one butt ugly excuse for a beard!

We'll probably get back to this thread during the Stanley Cup playoffs, but I'm gonna try something new this year. It's already worked for the Colts game last night...I'm going to shave only one leg! The other one shall never see the light of day.

Good idea. I'll try it this weekend to see if it works!

Like I said, excellent look! You look like a beatnick from the '60s. Get yourself a set of bongo drums daddy-o.

Morgs are you going to let that leg hair grow until next week, or did you shave it today? It might get pretty furry by next Sunday. You may end up looking like a creature out of greek mythology. The beuatiful maiden with the one furry leg.

A little help here. How do you post an attachment in a thread. I tried to attach bmain's new avatar in the college football thread but it's not working. Anyone?

When you are tryping your post, you have the option to attach a file down at the bottom near the submit reply button.

It only takes certian file types and it has to be a relatively small file.

I tried to grow a playoff beard for the NHL playoffs a few years back but I have a real heavy beard and by the end of the second period it was down to my freaking knees. I shaved it.

By the way, Clement's goatee looks like a well groomed vagina.

Well, I never thought of it before, but reading this thread, I've decided I'll grow my own playoff beard for the NBA Playoffs next year. I can grow a goatee for now, but if things go as planned, the 2004 NBA Playoffs shall be celebrated by a James Logan in Wolverine-facial hair style...

Damn! I was already working on a beard. Alas, I shaved it off last week due to constant irritation. I knew I should've kept it! This is a great idea, though. I'm going to let it grow. My facial hair grows unbelievably fast, so I should have some adequate hair growing on my face in about two weeks or less.

Oh yeah, GO LAKERS!!!!!

I do. I just don't got the hair.

I've been trying to grow the beard for the past couple o' weeks, and all I get so far is a so-so stubble. I'll post a picture when I think it's at its top. My legs are hairy all-year round, though, if that counts.

If I started growing a beard now, I would most likely look like Rip Van Winkle by the time the NBA playoffs are over, sheesh. That may be a good look for me though. I'll bet people in my life would never allow me to shave it off once I had it... less of my face showing you know.

I've also entertained the idea of growing a handlebar mustache ala Rollie Fingers. Quite striking, dontcha think? It's my dream to stand on a street corner, make sneering gestures and twirl it like some kind of evil villain from the movies, arghh! Maybe if the Cubs win the Series.

I seemed to do the opposite. Every morning on game day I shave and so far my team (Sharks) are 7-1, so it's working. And I don't wear my jersey on game day. Only after the game.
