Kentucky Derby
The Derby is this weekend.
Any of you schmoes planning on attending the Derby? I will be there for the second straight year. Last year was a blast. Unfortunately it looks like it will be raining all weekend. |

Here are the post positions and current odds for those who are interested. I am kinda surprised the EmpireMaker is staying so close to even money considering that he is not 100%

You're so lucky Mark! I've been to Saratoga a few times, but that seems like nothig compared to the Run for the Roses. I watch the Triple Crown on TV every year, so of course I'm excited for Saturday. Right now, I don't know if Empire Maker is worth the 6-5 odds, especially with his injury. Right now I like the chances for Peace Rules and Indian Express, but I'm still unsure.

Glad other schmoes follow the Kentucky Derby, and the Triple Crown! I watch them every year. I live on the west coast, so no chance of going. And I have no idea about the horses, or which one will be the winner (I usually don't know the horses until I see them the day of the Kentucky Derby), but the races are pretty damn exciting!

Well, I didn't place any bets or guess as to which horse would win, but I sure am glad Empire Maker didn't get re-injured. I was just dreading something would happen to the horse during the race...remember Charismatic from a few years ago? He was just yards from winning the Triple Crown, and he broke his leg. That was one of the most heartbreaking things I've ever seen, I didn't want to see a repeat.
What's a Gelding anyway? I don't know my horses very well. ![]() |

Wha? I thought a Gelding was some sort of a special horse breed, LOL...uhh, I guess not.

Great Derby weekend.
Unfortunately I lost a ton of money betting the horses both Friday and Saturday at the track. The weather turned out great. The mint julips were flowing. And I have loaded up on a ton of fun drunk stories. I strongly suggest some of you schmoes attempt to make the journey to the Derby next year. It is such a great time. |

Preakness
I'll just use this handy dandy old thread since today is the second leg of the Triple Crown, the Preakness...and since I know the horses a bit better now I'll make some guesses.
Win - Peace Rules Place - Funny Cide Show - Scrimshaw |

If only Peace Rules had been able to hold on ( I didnt see the race, but I heard he was leading most of the way), you could have won a $650 Trifecta (if you had boxed it)! I usually go to the Off Track betting to watch the Preakness and Belmont, but unfortunately I had other obligations this year, so I didnt even bother making any bets. |

Now if I only knew how this trifecta stuff works, I could win me some big money! lol. They show the odds and digits and stuff during the races, but I'm always a bit puzzled, am not really sure what they mean.

I have a very good understanding of how the betting works and it has helped me lose quite a bit of money! |

LOL, MarkIt. I was just gonna say...it's best I don't know. I'd be losing ALL my money on the ponies.
