The Birthday Thread!!!
OK, I want to try this one more time. I notice that more than one of the Schmoes, including myself, like to post those Best of Birthday Boy threads when on a celebrity's birthday, so I thought it would be kind of fun to have one big Birthday Thread that can be updated every day. I tried it once but it didn't work, so this is my last attempt.
I'll try to update it every day, but if I can't anyone else can feel free to... Today, August 2, is the birthday of... Edward Furlong (26) Kevin Smith (33) Peter O'Toole (71) Wes Craven (64) ![]() ![]() ![]() |

Here are my lists...
Top Five Kevin Smith Movies 1) Clerks (8.5/10) 2) Chasing Amy (8/10) 3) Dogma (8/10) 4) Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back (8/10) 5) Mallrats (6/10) Top Five Wes Craven Movies 1) A Nightmare On Elm Street (8/10) 2) Scream (8/10) 3) New Nightmare (7.5/10) 4) Scream 3 (7/10) 5) A Nightmare On Elm Street 3: Dream Warriors (7/10) Edward Furlong Performances 1) Danny Vinyard in American History X 2) John Connor in T2: Judgment Day Peter O'Toole Performances 1) Henry II in The Lion in Winter 2) Bishop Cauchon in Joan of Arc (miniseries) Embarassingly, I've only seen two performances each from each of the two actors. Even though Furlong was better in AMH, he'll always be John Connor to me.The hilarious An Evening With Kevin Smith (8/10) would be #3 in the Kevin Smith list if I ranked it amongst his films. Wes Craven didn't direct Dream Warriors, but he was one of the writers. I've enjoyed every Craven horror movie that I've seen so far, and the Elm Street series is always excellent when he is involved. So what are your lists? |

Yeah, but I've already got my hands full with all the James Stewart movies I taped yesterday and the Clint Eastwood movies I taped today.
I might tape Goodbye Mr. Chips and The Last Emperor, though. I've already got Lawrence of Arabia coming to be soon from Netflix... |

I haven't seen enough of Wesley Addy to make a list, but for Frank Vincent, my list would be the exact same as Quentin's, in the exact same order.
I had a bit of a Billy Bob-a-thon today in honor of his birthday. His great, Oscar-nominated (well deserved) performance in A Simple Plan would be my #3 (about Bandits) and Primary Colors would be my #6 (above Dead Man). |

I'm not sure if we're doing deceased stars, but since today is a little slow for big names I thought we could. Were he still alive today, the late, great John Huston would be 97. Oscar-winning cinematographer and frequent Scorsese collaborator Michael Ballhaus turns 68 today. Top Bollywood star, talented actress, and beauty Kajol celebrates her 28th birthday today. Enter The Dragon fans and b-movie afficianados can rejoice, for John Saxon is 68 today as well. And this one's for AJ, Bob Clark, best-known for directing A Christmas Story and the Porky's films, turns 62.
John Huston Films 1.) The Maltese Falcon 2.) The Treasure of The Sierra Madre 3.) The Misfits 4.) The Night of The Iguana 5.) The Asphalt Jungle 6.) Key Largo 7.) The African Queen 8.) Prizzi's Honor 9.) Fat City 10.) Heaven Knows, Mr. Allison Michael Ballhaus Cinematography 1.) GoodFellas 2.) Gangs of New York 3.) The Last Temptation of Christ 4.) The Bitter Tears of Petra von Kant 5.) The Age of Innocence 6.) Bram Stoker's Dracula 7.) Quiz Show 8.) The Fabulous Baker Boys 9.) The Color of Money 10.) The Legend of Bagger Vance Kajol Performances 1.) Anjali Sharma -Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham 2.) Anjali Sharma -Kuck Kuch Hota Hai 3.) Muskaan -Pyaar Kiya To Darna Kya 4.) Simran -Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge 5.) Kajal -Ishq John Saxon Performances 1.) Johnny Portugal -The Unforgiven 2.) Roper -Enter The Dragon 3.) Luis Chama -Joe Kidd 4.) Donald Thompson -A Nightmare on Elm Street 5.) Kenneth Fuller -Black Christmas Bob Clark Films 1.) Black Christmas 2.) A Christmas Story 3.) Tribute 4.) Porky's 5.) Aside from the three Elm Street movies, I only know John Saxon from Mitchell, which was a total piece of shit. I think it was a good call for listing the late (and great) John Huston, because this is kind of a cruddy day for birthdays. ![]() |
