Game Doctor: CD/DVD Repair tool. Recommended or Not?

At my local Video Game store, they sell this tool for $30. I was wondering if anyone has tried this or anything like this.

The way it works is it files down the DVD in a vertical direction. By doing this, it eliminates the scratches that are found on the disc surface. It is advertised for use on DVDs and CDs and many magazines have plugged it. Also, I believe that I heard a rumor that Blockbuster uses this to fix their warped DVD's (I cannot confirm this).

I was wondering if anyone has any stories about this (or anything similar to it). In an impatient moment, I tried this on a CD and it wasnt really of any help. I just wanted to see if anyone else had any good or bad experiences with this type of machine. Thanks in advance.

none of mt DVDs have been scratched at all and I've heard of this product but never tried it, but what I have heard is good (but may be too late for you) is like a plastic protector which you place over the read side of a DVD which allows the DVD to be read but gets scratched itself protecting the surface of the DVD and when it become unplayable you swap with a new one.
