The X-Men Tournament

This is it, the 32 character X-Men tournament. I hope that I included everyone's favorites, and I am sorry if I left anyone out that you wanted to see.

Before we begin, I just want to add a couple notes.

1) I added in 2 currently deceased characters, Psylocke and Colossus. Psylocke was a longtime X-Man, and an excellent fighter and I didn't feel right leaving her out. And Colossus, was one of my all time favorite mutants so I couldn't forget the big guy either. Besides, nearly all of the X-Men have been dead or thought to be dead at one point.

2) When I say Angel, I mean Warren Worthington, aka Archangel. Not the new kid. And when I say Phoenix, I mean Jean "everybody gets a cool code name but me" Grey.

3) This is single-elimination. I chose everyone at random. And believe me there's going to be some good matches. The voting will open and close on Mondays and Thursdays. So if I post a match on Monday, it closes on Thursday and a new one starts, you get the idea.

Well I hope that clears everything up. Now on with the show.

Sunspot

He spent a long time in the New Mutants, learning to hone his powers, then later joined up with X-force, where his powers were slightly different but still poweful. Plus add to this that he can shoot his plasma from his hands, fly and has super strength oon par with Captain Britain, and I think he would kick ass. Plus, being younger than CB, he would possibly have more stamina.

He also had a brief stint as a villain, so he may be willing to be more violent and ruthless than CB. Captain Britain always struck me as being more hot air than anything else.

I don't like Banshee (and how horrible would it be to have him in a video game or movie), but Boom Boom is annoying.

While I love the X-Men Evolution incarnation of Boom Boom, this is the comics one we're going for, and she annoys me to hell. Banshee can get to be a bit annoying too, but he's usually cool, not to mention having one extremely cool power. Banshee definitely wins one, he just needs to yell at her once and all done.

Banshee for me as well.

Boom Boom (later Meltdown), did gain a tougher attitude and became more powerful in the latter half of the X-Force run, but she still could not hold a candle to Banshee.

1. he could fly, so avoiding her "time bombs" would be a synch
2. He has been with the X-Men for years, and even trained the Generation X kids for awhile, so you know he's got experience.

Seems pretty clear cut to me

Banshee would have the upper hand, till he swallows a few of those bombs and his stomach would explode. His guts would be all over the place.

The votes are in for this match and Banshee wins over Meltdown 10-1. Before I go on I wonder if Banshee was the first Irish super hero in comics?

I'll take Siryn.

Cannonball is kind of lame in personality (he's a cyclops ripoff type), and in powers (like, everybody can fly these days, so big deal). I don't think he could face the scream. Banshee defeated Dark Phoenix with his scream, so I don't think Cannonball stands a chance.

I'll go for Syrin too. Cannonball is invulnerable to any blast or physical damage when he's using his powers, but I doubt even his powers could prevent a sonic scream knocking his senses outta him, or simply bursting his ears up.

Cannonball. Syrin started out cool when she was a villain, but she turned into a complete and utter puss after she reformed. She'd get taken down by Rocket Racoon in five seconds flat. Never got why she was part of X-Force, a band of mutant militants basically, when she never did anything...

I vote for Cannonball. His power pretty much speaks for itself. When he is blasting, he is invulnerable, pretty much. He can also project his field out in a concussive blast. With his years of training under Xavier, Magneto (when he was good for a time), and Cable, I think Cannonball would be able to take out the wee Irish lass.

Storm without a doubt. She has more attacking variety than Cyclops (either lightning bolts, hail, or just blow him away in a tornado), has the ability to fly for aerial advantage, and even up close she's good at fightining. I guess the fact that in the comics she managed to beat him even without her powers says it all for me.

Storm, no question. Issue #201 from The Uncanny X-Men should suffice as proof that Storm can beat Cyclops. With her powers in full swing in an all out battle, Cyk wouldn't stand a chance.

Cyclops is potentially the most powerful of all x-men. All he would have to do is take off his glasses. Then, he'd always hit everything in his line of sight at the speed of light. You can't dodge this kind of attack. Heck, your nerves can't process information faster than this attack. So, even telepaths or mentalists (like Magneto) couldn't stop this attack.

However, Cyclops is a wuss and he's so repressed that we will never see him unleash & we'll always see the glasses on. When they fought, storm won.

I vote for Storm.
