A friend gave me Lucky Number Slevin. Hadn't seen it prior to this gift, and I must say that if I had blind bought it I would have been pleased.

Yay for m burlock!
I saw from the other posts that you wanted to find out how it was, and now you have it. Cool.
Is the letter really hand-signed?

Once isn't that good to be honest.

Backstabba:
didn't know you were such a big BR fan. That box is cool, I'll give it that, but I'm not a huge BR fan. Granted, the final cut is better than any other cut I've yet seen. It looks much better, and I guess that's what swayed (there were a few story clean-ups, I guess, that made it better too).

Well I've been grooving to the soundtrack lately and the good reviews have me expecting something good. My expectations aren't too high anyway.

I'm not.
But I wanted to blind buy Blade Runner for a long time. And when I heard of this, I HAD to have it. Even if it's a blind buy, I MUST have the best version out there.
I'm a DVD collecting whore, what can I say?

It's a nice little film, but I didn't find all too much to find great or worth owning on DVD. Yes, "Falling Slowly" is a beautiful scene to listen and watch simultaneously, but I figure the soundtrack, which I own, will be the sole remembrance I have of Once.

I just hope you guys aren't disappointed with Blade Runner.
It's a great film, but it's not quite what you think it'll be. I'm sure of it.
Anyway, report back...the both of you (satisfied? y/n).

And I'm in total agreement with Lazy Boy: nice music but not that much great in the film itself. I like how it explores their relationship, but there are quite a few filmmaking downfalls (like that piano at the end, IMO). Still, not bad. I love the opening sequence and the two leads are quite good. Not bad by any means, just not spectacular.

My fav's in the set are, ALL of them...no but seriously I'm in love with Rohmer films. My Night At Maud's, Clair's Knee, and La collectionneuse are all great, Love in the Afternoon is probably the best of the set. The two first short films are more of an intro or set-up for the rest of the series. My favorate Rohmer movie is Pauline at the Beach. If you haven't seen that one you must!!

What I wanted to know was how beautiful it looked on HD-DVD (I have it on DVD) through a "Full HD 1080p" HDTV and what others (real people's) opinions were. As for the letter, I haven't opened mine yet. I'm waiting till I get my second one. The one that has the higher number I'll open and watch, the other I'll leave sealed.

The only Rohmer film I've seen is...Pauline at the Beach! Lol, I like that one a lot, I find it disheartening that a lot of people hate "talky" films, but his above all else (and probably Bergman, too) are the kind where I'm fascinated with dialogue as much as I am by themes and whatnot. I'm probably going to start a Morals marathon on New Years Eve.

I got the Blu-Ray version of the Blade Runner set, because I love that movie so damned much. I wonder how it'll look myself.

I have the suitcase coming to me, but I really really wanna watch it now! Plus, I start school again on the 3rd, so I don't want to cram all the extras into 2 days of viewing. I want to kinda sip at it, like a fine wine.

It's one of my most favorite movies ever, and I already have the box set DVD with all those collector's things (the one pictured on this link), so I might "donate" this copy in the future to my brother-in-law who also has a Blu-Ray player.

I like this flick.
